I remember in the 50's my Dad being upset about Elvis Presley, then later the Beatles. He felt it was to sexy, compared to to days time, rather lame. No, to your question, i don't think it is because the more they hear it the more they think it is OK, but rather it's a different time and parents and children have always disagreed about the music of the day.

No. I love hip hop, and I'm a mom...my daughter doesn't swear more because of it, and neither do I. LOL
Will Smith manages to do it amazingly, without the cursing. But that's him. I really can't see how the industry/culture will stop using profanity. This kind of debate in music has been going on since Elvis, and it's going to be around longer still.

I've listened to hip-hop all my life and it didn't make me cuss more. It was my mother. Listening her mouth everyday eventually got me in the habit. I cuss less now, but it was definitely her influence. And my husband barely ever cussed when I met him, you know what influenced him, the NAVY. Now I know what they mean by the saying, you cuss like a sailor.

I don't listen to it. When my son was home he would play it quietly because I hated to listen to it. He lives with his girlfriend now and they can listen to it all they want.
I believe listening to rap/hip hop music with all the cuss words will make a person cuss more. Just my opinion.

hip hop, rock, whatever.. if it has a lot of swearing in it then it will be influencial to the kids... but so are the people they hang out with and movies they watch. They are the ones that need to make that decision to either do it or not - nobodies fault but their own, they know right from wrong.

I would agree, but that's true for more than just rap music. It's true for movies, tv, friends, family. Have you heard what kind of language a three year old comes up with when his/her parents swear at home? I forgot to mention, I really dig your mask.

Yes I think it does. Not just that but also movies. I find that when I have watched movies that have had much cursing in them. I myself let loose when angered and use a few curse words myself. Not that I think it's more okay to do so. It just happens. I try not to be so quick and curse next time.
