Sevin dust kills many plant insects. If you want to protect without a chemical, cut the bottom out of a styrofoam cup and place it over the roots before planting and let it extend about 1/2" above the ground. If already planted, slit it up the side and wrap around the stem the same way but bury most of the cup.

thats an simple one. reduce worms genuinely attack youthful flowers. no longer mature ones.. Make a collar for them .. you should use any situation to attempt this.. I used styrofoam espresso cups with the bottom bumped off. Push them about an inch interior the floor with the tomato plant interior the middle. you could go away it there untill you pull the plant up interior the autumn or eliminate it after the plant is about 12 inches or extra tall.. I go away mine all summer season. Any situation that varieties a barrier will provide up the reduce worms.. Even the middle of a bathroom paper roll or in basic terms strips of cardboard formed in a circle to guard the bottom of the more youthful plant...

Put some kind of a paper sleeve around the stem when you plant them. I always use as much as I can when I transplant. You will have a better root system and healther plants if you do. tear a piece of Newspaper, place it around the stem of the tomato after it has been planted. Hold it together with a piece of scotch tape, I use the paper tape my self.

Wrap the base of the tomato seedling with aluminum foil. Sounds weird but it works.
