It does not take a lot of guts to go into a ring with an opponent not worthy of boxing pee wee herman as clay did and beat his brains out. clay was a coward for not serving his country. Many of us answered the call to duty knowing it was not the right war but it was the law. He took the easy way out because the was afraind to die but so were we. 101st Airborne Division infantry 68/69

First of all, thank you so much for your service to America!

I think you are getting worked up for nothing. I don't know the specific details of why Cassius Clay refused to be drafted during the Vietnam War, but he did face a hefty fine and imprisonment for that, I believe. He also has some disease from his boxing days. Actually, I've often thought that he was overrated and got far too much publicity.

I thank you for serving our great country during Vietnam. But you should forget about Cassius Clay. He isn't worth getting angry about.

That's not really a question, just a rant against some old boxer.
That's great that you are serving your country, I'm a vet myself and was in Iraq and Afghanistan.
What a lot of people who serve forget is that they defending the freedom of everyone, not just the people they agree with. Part of being a 'free country' is that people won't always do the same thing as everyone else.
Don't worry about Mohamed Ali. When you get worked up about people who you feel have wronged you (especially people you don't even know) it's like them live in head withour paying rent.
Good Luck and thanks again for your service.

He won an Olympic gold medal for his country and he had the guts to show his fellow countrymen that the Vietnam War was being fought for the benefit of rich white men as the Iraq war is today.
