Did you mean ln e^4 or 4(lne)? If so, then the answer is 4. If you meant ln(e4) then the answer is 2.386, this is how you would do it by hand:

ln(e4) = lne + ln4 = 1 + ln4, plugging it into your calculator would get you 2.386. Of course, since you are doing it by calculator, there really is little point to expand it, nevertheless it is helpful to know how to. Hope this helps.

ln x and e^x undo each other since they are inverses.
So ln e^4 = 4.
Another way:
ln e^4 = 4 ln e = 4*1 = 4.
