In a season where the New York Yankees are being criticized and ridiculed for having a poor pitching staff, both rookie Phillip Hughes and Chien-Ming Wang have flirted with a no-hitter and a perfect game before succumbing in the late innings. Who will be the first Yankees pitcher this season to complete a masterpiece?

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. No-Hitters and Perfect games are rare for all pitchers. The fact that Yankees starting pitching and even relief pitching has been awful this season gives them even less of a chance of throwign a no-hitter. If any Yankee throws a no-hitter this season, I think it will be Carl Pavano and he will shock everybody if and when he comes back

Interesting that of the 21 perfect games thrown, the first 9 spanned 88years (1880 -1968) and the last 12 has spanned only 31 years (1981-2012).

WIth that sieve of a defense behind them? You've got to be kidding.

They're not all that common. The link below is to a complete list of games that are no-hitters, extraordinary efforts (less than 9 full innings, or not giving up a hit for nine innings but coming back out and giving up at least one in extra innings) , and combined no-hitters. The latter two simply don't count.

Dream on!! Keep living a fantasy!! Typical Yankees fan, never facing reality. NO Yankees pitcher will pitch either a no hitter OR a perfect game this year. Get real!!

Chow!!

At this rate all their pitchers will be injured and they'll have to start someone from AA. Maybe he'll get a no hitter or something.

Wang. He's a dominant pitcher, but no one wants 2 believe me. Whoever does, they'll have 1 more than our Boston counterparts.
