i got a a notebook that maximum ram that it can have is 256mb and i got 1 266 mb stick in my slot.i have 1 slot free,if i buy another 256mb ram stick is somethin bad is gonna happen or somethin,,plz answer

your notebook will not handle it cuase the motherboard cannot recongnize the additional ram, it said 256 for a reason, your laptop is pretty outdated to try and handle newer software and and Windows,,...while i'm a microsoft supporter, i beluieve you have a rig that is useful to study Linux, unless your familar with linux you should get unbuntu...or kunbuntu(different desktop archetypes) its more user friendly and requires less resources, but since your low on resources i recommend skipping on open office and finding a better sleeker less resource intensive office suite.....good luck

That's a pretty outdated notebook w/ support for only 256Mb. If that is the case, your motherboard will just not recognize additional RAM that you put in but will not damage your laptop..

nothing bad will happen and the maximum ram your notebook can support is NOT 256mb its at least 512

nope if it has 2 slots for ram then you can use both slots! :) heres a good place to buy ram from, i buy all my computer parts from here.. they have everything

No if you have two slots for memory you will be fine. but if you try to save something to them make sure you have both in at the same time.

if the max ram ur laptop can have is actually 256 ... it is so slow everywhere else its not going to do one single thing for you to waste ur time and money trying to put 50 gigs of ram in it ...
