It has electronic beats, takes no musical talent whatsoever, and yet it wins Grammys? Rap is bad poetry done to electronic beats by people who can not sing. And I really think they left the C of the front of the name

Look, I am not an idiot. I am college educated with 3 degrees. I misworded the question when I initially posted it. I should have asked "why does rap seem to be filed with profanity, violence, and hate?" Also, why do so many younger people feel the need to grace the rest of us with your music selections at such high volumes? Aren't they worried about hearing loss? It shows a serious lack of consideration for others when they drive though residential areas at 3AM with there stereos blasting at 130dbs

I agree, the reason they rap is because they cannot sing. Yes, to each his own but I absolutely hate that noise. It just won't die, the Sugar Hill gang introduced this but it was a disco sound, the kids of the 1980's turned it into what it has become now, the most destructive generation that I have ever seen, and look what it has brought us....murders out the wazoo, drugs all out in the open, ever thought you'd see the prison look become a fashion statement, no belt on their pants and clothes 4 sizes too big, oh did I mention drugs and and total disrespect for anything or anybody....lol...oh yeah rap has had a wonderful impact on our society wonder what the next generation will bring.

Music doesn't take that much talent at all for a lot of singers either because they don't write their own music or lyrics (not to mention all the . Rap in and of itself isn't good or bad; it's what rap has been turned into by the mainstream (a bunch of wannabe gangsters who don't talk about anything but abusing and objectifying women, smoking drugs, and killing people). Rap itself is a perfectly legitiate form of self-expression; it's the rappers themselves who have given it a bad name.

flow to a recording/production studio and watch the human beings who artwork not undemanding on the beats and the lyricist and rap artist at artwork. supply it a attempt your self. when you fail at beat making and fail to maintain a diverse pace and bypass that it takes to rap and say issues that appeals to a super sufficient team of human beings possibly you will come to rejoice with the artwork style. you in addition to mght stated making a music? What rap have you ever listened to..making a music in the refrain is extremely elementary. I'm very curious to the form of track you llisten too and why making a music is this form of key portion of what you think approximately track. there are entire guitar solos in rock and united states, complete classes of rap the place the instrumentals run and heck techno, abode/dubstep often has songs with none making a music in any respect. in case you you don't like it replace the station don't hate on an entire artform considering you dislike it.

Rap, like other styles of music, is rhythmical expression of language set to a musical beat. To your point that it takes no musical talent, I would comment that singing takes no talent either. Singing well takes talent, and rapping well takes talent. (If you doubt that, just try rapping for yourself. I bet you are no Tupac.)

The bottom line is that you don't like rap. That is respectable. I don't particularly like rock music. But I respect it as a musical form and recognize that it has musical value. I would not question whether the (perceived) screaming in rock music and the (perceived) whining in country music means that it is not music because I realize that I have no right to criticize another person's artistic expression, even if I don't understand it. Questioning rap, country, rock, or any other type of music as a musical form reminds me of those individuals who criticized Picasso.

Perhaps you don't like it because you are not the intended audience for the particular rappers whom you have heard and maybe they don't care that you don't understand their art form.

If your question is why rap is filled with profanity, I would ask you to reconsider your question because all rap is not filled with profanity. Some rap is, and some rock is. If you are asking why youth seems to listen to rap music loudly, maybe you should ask those individuals or their parents. From my understanding, the rap generation did nor invent loud music. Perhaps you should question stereo manufacturers. However, none of this gives an individual the right to question another culture's artistic expression.

By the way, do you question whether the traditional sounds of Chinese music constitutes music? They often did not sing at all!!! Oh my goodness!!!

Why is rock considered music? Music is any melodic sound. It really doesn't matter so much HOW it was made as it matters what the end result is. It's your opinion that you don't like it, so just don't listen to it. I'm pretty sure there's people on the opposite end who would say the exact same thing that you say about rap music, but in reference to rock or country music.

I will admit that the things they talk about are pretty stupid, but pretty much anything you can dance to is considered music. It wins Grammy's because there's a large number of people out there who pretty much just like the beats or the personality of the people who produce the music.

Rap didn't start out to become what it is today, but since it has seen changes over the years,I totally agree with you! Rap Shmap! I especially hate rap because of the loud and irritating music and bad influential lyrics

I agree with the bad poetry part, and I don't listen to it because of all the vulgarity and profanity. That kind of stuff is not what I want my children growing up listening to and thinking it is o.k.

However, with different lyrics I wouldn't mind some of the music.

Rap actually takes a lot of talent. I'd like to see you up there trying to rap. No offense but you would probably be laughed at. It's not anything against you, but it just shows that it takes talent.
Plus, writing those lyrics takes talent. In your opinion, the lyrics may be "crappy". But, I have a friend who aspries to be a rapper some day. I have seen him sit down at a desk and work for days straight trying to perfect these lyrics. Please, give rap a chance. It may not be what you find appealing in music, but the fact that you don't like it won't change the fact that it IS music.

I used to feel that way until my son kept playing it over and over. after a while it grew on me and i started to like some of them. now I'm hooked. totally LOVE the stuff. it's great to listen to in clubs because of all the great base. i don't find it to be bad poetry. true the topics are usually sexually oriented but the talent is there. Try not to be so shallow.

I totally agree...I am in my twenties and the whole rap culture disgusts me especially since I live in the suberbs and I see these little teens "bumping" their $500 stereos feeling as if they can relate to whatever the lyrics may be. Half of the time it's about who can screw who and whos a** is the biggest. It's so pathetic that thousands of girls clamor to be a stripper in a rap video while young boys have given up aspirations of being an astronaut instead dreaming of becoming a rapper.
