You could look at the social accomplishments of that time. Unfortunately, many of them had to do with Caesar's reforms so you can't ignore him. There was also that civil war that immediately followed his death as his assassins were helped by some and hunted by others. Oh, the power struggle between Octavius and Marc Antony and the third member of the triumvirate.

You'll be hard pressed to ignore Caesar's assasination. That was the defining event of that year... probably the entire decade.

Just tell the teacher , that was a wicked long time ago and you weren't born yet and chances are the teacher wasn't either.
