Union General George Thomas.
"He was one of the great generals of the Civil War - he commanded the Army of the Cumberland after the battle of Chickamauga. He was a southerner and a career soldier who, at great personal loss, stood by the Old flag. He was a man of honor and great courage in a time of great turmoil."

Mine would be Milo. He lived 600 years before the birth of Christ, in Crotona, Greece.
Milo invented weightlifting.
He and his father lived in a small town, but had a small farm outside of town. They owned a calf, of which they kept at home during the night, would bring to the farm, during the day; to keep someone from stealing the calf.
Milo carried the calf every day because it would not walk to, from the farm.
As the calf got bigger, Milo got bigger. When the calf grew up into a cow, Milo was huge!
A passing salesman took Milo and his father to Rome to fight in front of the public. Milo fought, and won, several battles, with no weapons. He became rich, moved back to his town as a hero and a wealthy man.

Edward Rickenbacker.
I wouldn't really call him a "hero" but he did a lot of cool stuff in the military like being in the first aero pursuit squadron.
