The photo of Vietnam civilians try to board an Air America helicopter on an apartment rooftop in Saigon, April 29, 1975. This is perhaps the most famous image from the Fall of Saigon.

The Peace Sign, and tie-dye is more 60's then 70s.
Disco became mainstream in 1976-1978, and "died" on July 12, 1979, so this poster of the 1977 movie "Saturday Night Fever" could be seen as an iconic 70s image :

I think everybody would agree that the peace sign would be perfect to represent the 1970's because, well, the first thing to pop into my head when I think about the 1970's is the peace sign.

A girl with long straight hair, parted down the middle, wearing flowered shirt and miniskirt, and sandals or platform shoes on the feet, take your pick, probably smoking, jewelry made like an upside cross (/l\), pink or red lipstick, carrying small shoulder-strap purse AND a big farmhouse and a field in the background. That was the typical look of the girls in that period of time--I remember
or they wore to-the-ankle skirts, flowered again, faintly gypsyish
For guys, I remember the boys with long hair, hanging over the eyes some, elephant-bell bottom Levis so long that feet walked on them, and flowered shirt and short-waisted leather jacket, smoking, and slouching, carrying a guitar or a set of bongos, Elton John-style "elevator" shoes

i love animals, yet i'm lifeless frightened of them. Lol. Hmm, So, i guess i'd opt for a moon image to characterize me. 'Cos I in basic terms love moonlights, and something that has to do with the moon.
