Go to the start menu, programs, accessories, system tools, character map, and select symbol font. Point to the square root sign, and click select, copy.
Return to your app and paste. Then select the character that appeared and select symbol font.
There is no square root sign in most computer fonts, so you have to change the font. You can't do this in notepsd since the whole document must be one font, and the symbol font is in all greek letters.
Better way is use sqrt for square root.

You hold down the alt key and then press 251. This **must** be done using the numeric keypad (which may require you to also hold down the "Fn" key); using the regular numbers on the top row of the keyboard will not work. I've done it here:

Depends on the program your using. In most doc editors (like word) its just insert symbol and it will be there somewhere. Other times its impossible unless you go into a doc editor and copy the symbol to you clipboard
See: √( :-) )

u first set your computer calculator on the scientific view and a dec. mode and degree mode
then u enter the number then click the button on the calculator that looks like x^y then type .5
its radical if you know 1/2
meaning you put the number to the power of numerator and take the nth root of the deomenoator
