And that everything in your life seems to be falling apart?

Try to spend some time figuring out what it is that you really want... right now (maybe your goals have changed but that doesn't mean that you were "mistaken" when you chose to work for them before). Maybe there's something you can do about this but it is up to you to know or find the answer.

Then you need to sit down and have a good hard think about the reasons why you worked hard for these things in the first place, and what you expected to get out of it. If you did it for the wrong reasons, you simply won't get the satisfaction out of it that you would if you did it for the "right" reasons. For example, if your family pushed you into becoming an attorney, when what you really wanted to be was a chef or something, it might seem as though they had a good argument for being an attorney, but at the end of the day, it's your life, not thiers, and money and status isn't everything. If it's a situation where you got married, had children, and set out to find the best way you could provide for them, and put your own needs aside for that, well, congratulations, you are a grown up, and we all have to do things like that sometimes, and hope that the results for our children will make the sacrifice worth it. But while that may be a means, it should not be an end, and you should still be trying to get where you would be happiest, while still trying to meet the needs of your family also. Then you need to figure out what it is you really want out of life, and how to go about getting it, while still seeking to balance your responsibilities as well. ... Maybe you should try sitting down with your family and find out what sort of life they would like to have also, you might be surprised by what they have to say about it.... Good luck....

oh baby that's my life story :) i've invested my time, money and heart into several careers and several men who could've been 'the one.' But in the end, neither the guys nor the jobs were a good fit for me. it sucks when you work your butt off to make your dreams come true only to find out that you now want something totaly different.

And here i am single at 32 and planning to go back to school AGAIN! :)

1--everything isn't falling apart! got friends? family? your health? a dog? i'm sure you've got something you can lean on. so be thankful for what you got.

2--it's like that cheesy song "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end..." Be glad you live in a country where you can figuratively start over if you need to

3--Like Mer said in Grey's Anatomy this week: "The true dream, is being able to dream..." in the US or UK etc you've got a lot of options that ppl in other countries don't have.

Take a deep breath. Take a break. Trust yourself. You'll figure out what it is you need to do. (Feel free to email me because I'm not sure of your specifics but I bet I have been there.)

You make the decision to move forward and forget about all the bad choices you've made in the past.
You think of all you've been through as a learning experience and that it can only make you stronger.
You start thinking about what you really want, and then go get it.
