Mostly what you find in saltwater are types of algaes. Some is actually pretty, but you may have to keep it trimmed, or it can overgrow your tank. Caulerpa comes in a lot of different varieties and is easy to grow. There's another called red grape algae that I have on a rock and some ogo that comes in some different colors. Chaetomorpha is a good one to remove phosphates and nitrates.

Unless you dose the tank with calcium, I'd avoid halimeda or Merman's shaving brush - these need extra calcium to do well. Ulva is a good food plant for tangs, but can get too big - it just looks like a green sheet. Codium is nice looking but a very slow grower. Mangroves are a seed pod from a tree - these will try and grow right out of the tank. Turtleweed can become a nuisance.

If you buy live rock for your tank, you should find lots of coralline algae on it - this just looks like a crust on the rock, but comes in red, pink, purple, and sometimes green.

I'll put some websites below where you can find pictures and info on these, as well as some nuisance type you won't want to have in your tank.
