Interesting note: Indianapolis gave up the fewest sacks in 2006 and won the Super Bowl. The Oakland Raiders (72), Detroit Lions (63) and Cleveland Browns (54) were the three worst teams in that category for 2006. And they ended up with the #1 pick, #2 and #3 picks in the draft. Looks like a team that does well in that category will do well during the season. (Too bad that didn't work for the 2003 Lions!)

Well the NFL did not start compliling SACK records until 1982, so since 1982, that is the record for the fewest allowed by a team in a single season.

I remember this during that year. The reason the Detroit Lions had so few sacks, is because Joey Harrington would just throw away the ball before getting sacked. As soon as 2-3 seconds went by after the snap, he would just get rid of the ball. Whether it was a completion or not, he simply would just throw it away. He was too scared to get sacked. No play would last more than 2-3 seconds. I doubt they had a completion much over ten yards the entire season. I do believe no one has ever had less sacks in a season.

I agree with the other guy who said Tampa Bay. They are under the radar, but play extremely well. The Lions are in the SB champs division with 3 other good teams. I don`t see them making the playoffs, but they will have a winning record of 9-7. I can guarantee 1 thing though. We will have an competitive Thanksgiving game in Detroit.
