Fair ball.

MLB Rule 2.00, definition of Fair Ball:

A FAIR BALL is a batted ball that settles on fair ground between home and first base, or between home and third base, or that is on or over fair territory when bounding to the outfield past first or third base, or that touches first, second or third base, or that first falls on fair territory on or beyond first base or third base, or that, while on or over fair territory touches the person of an umpire or player, or that, while over fair territory, passes out of the playing field in flight.

The ball is deemed "fair" as most of these answers attest. If you look at the position of both the 1st and 3rd base bags, you will note that they are placed completely in fair territory with one edge against the foul line. Therefore, any ball hitting either the 1st or 3rd base bag (directly in the air or after rolling on the ground) is a fair ball and remains in play.

I want to correct one of the answers... Any ball that is in foul territory before it reaches either the 1st or 3rd base bag is considered "live". It is deemed "foul" ONLY if it passes either base while still in foul territory, is touched by an opposing player while still in foul territory, or is deemed "dead" by the umpire. If it comes back into fair territory before reaching either base, it is then a "fair" ball and play continues. That is why you'll see players swipe at a slow roller that is in foul territory in order to make sure it doesn't roll into fair territory before reaching the bag.

No.

That would be a ground ball, and a ground ball would have to go foul and stay foul BEFORE it crosses the line at the edge of the infield to be foul. The bags themselves are in fair territory, and any ball that hits a bag is in play.

Yes, It is a fair ball...and how you describe it if it then bounced into the stands he would get an automatic double...anything to the left of the bag is foul....anything on or to the right of the bag at 3rd base is fair and viceversa for 1st base.

The bases are considered fair territory. If the ball hits the base, it is a fair ball at that point. If the ball touched foul ground before it hit the base, it's foul.

it is a fair ball because third base is inside the base line so its a fair ball even though it goes in foul territory.

If the batted ball hits the base, it is a fair ball no matter where it bounces.

It's a fair ball because it hit the base. And if it then caroms out of play, it's a two-base award from the time of the pitch for all runners.

If the ball hit third base before it bounced out of play it is a fair ball. As you are describing it, it sounds like this hit was a fair ball.
