last week...or the week b4 i 4get (all drifting together now) i was getting sharp shooting and pressure pains like i was wearing a thong that was WAY to tight! anyway, i was told i was in early labour, n then it stopped. now im getting the same pains, but higher up, just above my vigina, but under my bump, just where my baby's head is i assume. could this b labour? or is it just normal pains for my stage in pregnancy?
im 39 weeks today! she's due next Saturday...Lilly-Ann...aw. overly excited now!

oh dear, someone sounds as fed up and agitated as i was during the end of my pregnancy,it certainly sounds like something is happening,it sounds like you are in slow labour,i was in slow labour for 5 days,my contractions were irregular but more painful than braxton hicks, the pains were my cervix slowly opening, therefore i had a quicker birth, because by the time my pains were unbearable i was 8cm dilated.good luck and hope all goes well, try to relax and dont stress yourself out, i know its hard but try to get some sleep, after all you may not get much soon, once your little baby arrives.also ignore the stupid comments you receive,i was still unsure if i was in labour when pregnant with my 4th child because i suffered with so many pains all the way through pregnancy.

I get these pains also. I'm almost 35 weeks, and been having them since about 31 weeks. Dr said its just baby sitting in a funny spot. Theres times where I would cry because the pain was so sharp. Chances are at this point baby is starting to get into position for his arrival. Good Luck!

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about.. I got those too with both my pregnancies and I hated it, It's sooo uncomfortable. Since I can remember my last pregnancy better, I had gotten home from dinner with my husband and some friends and all of a sudden started feeling those sharp pains, it hurts especially cause I always had to pee and it felt even more uncomfortable. I couldn't get myself to get comfortable because it triggered every now and then and the next morning I gave birth so maybe that means that she's on her way pretty soon! Good Luck

What you are feeling could be your cervix stretching from the pressure of the baby's head. Does it feel like an sharp letter opener is stabbing you up inside your vagina? If so, that's what it is. When you are in labor for good and not Braxton Hicks the contractions won't go away when you walk around, although it might take a bit of time. Your uterus is practicing for delivery. Congratulations Honey.

Call NHS Direct 0845 46 47 to speak to a nurse - or get yourself to a hospital if you feel that the pain is way off normal.
You could call your nearest GP surgery to get their 'out of hours' number from their answer machine' and have a doctor visit you tonight if you are very concerned - I have done this before, and although you feel kind of bad about getting a doc out in the middle of the night, you're in pain, right, and that's what you pay your taxes for... Get the number of your local surgery here http://www.nhs.uk/England/Doctors/NearestSearch.aspx
If it hurts more than before, seriously, get it checked. You could start with the NHS Direct number I gave above, 0845 4647 and go from there.
Sorry I can't help more. Best of luck with everything.

Hi there, Evilbunny!
I know that calling the doctor is out, but look on your maternity notes, there should be a number there for your local maternity ward. If you call them- even though it's half past one in the morning, there will be someone there who can ask you more prompting question to find out what's happening.
I hope that you are both okay and that you get to meet your little angel soon.
It could just be your baby's head moving into position though.

I would call your doc just to be sure, but it kinda sounds like muscle spasms to me. Usually normal part of your expanding body and all the blood in your lower body.

At 39 wks. anything is possible you could very well be in labor. Only 2wks from due date anything can happen.
