The Iraq war must be stopped immediately because Saddam Hussien was already executed and the threat of terrorism against America is already controlled.

No US President will be able to end the war in Iraq. The fighting there is likely to go on for a number of years until the Iraqis themselves (probably with help from their neighbors) sort out the standing of the various factions. Peace is not at hand in the land between the Tigris and Euphrates.

What a US President can do, though, is decide that this mess is not worth the harm being inflicted on our armed forces and the cost being imposed on the Treasury. It takes real national strength and purpose to admit a mistake and regroup.

When we win. I have said for years that the problem is NOT the number of troops, but the rules of engagement. I would not 'desecrate' a 'holy site' with an attack, but if the enemy used the site to hide or stage an attack, I would 'purify' the site. All religions teach purification by fire, don't they? Civilians are not targets, but if they terrorists use them as shields, the terrorists are responsible for their death.

When the 15 British Marines were captured, I favored sending a 'negotiating team' that would cause Iran's entire early waring radar network to light up like a Christmas tree.

We had no business going there in the first place over false pretenses. We went in wrong and we are going to leave wrong. Two wrongs don't make a right. Our preemptive strike doctrine needs to be revised before we try this on another country. Democracy doesn't work everywhere. Not everybody welcomes democracy in the same way Americans embrace it. Iraq today will be as democratic as it will ever be with its fair share of sectarian violence. Its systemic with the culture and the territory. We need to cut our losses and leave while we are a little ahead.

I don't think you can put a timetable on it. First of all, you would never tell the enemy when you are going to quit. Second of all, you can't put a timetable on something that you don't know how long will take to win.

If someone says "we are losing the war", you need to ask yourself - lose the war to what? AlQuida? I don't think so - that will never happen. Better sooner fight than later - fight it now, and fight it over there. Fight it for your children and your grandchildren, just like our grandfather's and father's did for us.

I would do it like the olden days, stop being so soft about everything and being so nice and fair and treat them the way they deserve to be treated. First of all I would stomp on surround countries really bad and instead of rebuilding them I'd let them wallow in their misery. This would allow Iraq to become more powerful and take better care of themselves. I would also kill anyone that voices opposition to my movement, because that seemed to work well with Saddam Heiussen and every other dictator. I would issue harsh words to anyone planning violence in that country. I would find them and execute them on national tv in a humiliating way, I would even kill their whole family too as they indirectly brought that piece of crap into this Earth. Would this solve the problem... YES, will it ever happen NO, will everyone lose more lives in the long run because we want to be nice to everyone, YES. Will this cost more money in the long run YES. Ironically, with all the voilence I would bring to their door step, the world would be much more peaceful just as it was when vlad tepes dracul ruled romania (the real dracula). So, therefore no timetable can be issued.
