What kind of driving to you do? What do you use the car for? Why do you have a car? The best type of car is different for different people.
A Lexus luxury car may be best if you need to have room for four adults to go out to dinner, but not if you need to take six kids to soccer practice.
A Corvette may be perfect to haul down to your summer place on the lake with your latest love interest but bad to go to Home Depot.
So get your ducks in a row and then ask the question again after some thought. Do you drive with as little forethought?

This day and age, a good car needs to have good gas mileage. 4 cylinders, is usually the better choice in my opinion. I drive a 95 ford Taurus, it's great on gas, and for an older car, I haven't had to put hardly anything in it. maintenance plays a large part in how it performs. Something so little as not having adequate tire pressure sucks gas too.

All cars have guarantees. Generally the maximum years life span is 5 to 20 years. But this all depends in the owner becasue 60% of the breakdowns is caused by the operator. 20% goes to the mechanical and 20% goes to the engine itself.

The type that runs when you need it. Stops when you must. and has heat and air conditioning both. There is no best type or they would all be the same. Only you know what is the car you need.
