Lego Grrl: You mean I CAN'T have freedom FROM religion? How about YOUR religion? I suppose you have the right to impose your flavor of religion on me? No. I think we do have freedom from religion if we so choose. You have freedom to worship but not to impose your faith on others.

El Supre: I am more concerned with the Pat Robertson types. These dominionists ultimately will want to impose their vision of Christianity on all aspects of American society. They are not overly fond of the Constitution either. This kind of describes the Bush administration.

I guess I better start my new religion...the Logical Evolutionary Fundamentalist Church....our religion is based on fact and not on any belief not provable in reality, but we accept those (and pray for them to our non-existent Space Goddess) that have beliefs in a god and do not impose it on others.

There I have my religion...and for those of you that say I cannot have the freedom FROM religion...I will give you a copy of our not-so-holy book (as soon as I can get it written...sort of like the founders of the Mormon Church that)

LeoGIrl is way wacko to think I must have a religion...how can you make me have it...and since you can not make me...how can there not be a freedom FROM religion? Unless you imprison me and my family, and threaten to destroy all I hold dear unless I FAKE it...Nice pleasant thought Girl...shows you intolerance and ignorance...As far as "El Supremo" I really don't think you understand anything if you believe that the Founders were creating a nation, with the idea of giving Churches power over the government or people that choose not to believe....You can try to convert me, but you cannot make me a Christian by law....you cannot deport me because I am not Christian ...because I am an American citizen...you would just have to imprison me for my lack of beliefs...If this will never happen, why don't you wackos just shut up.

I have a belief, but it isn't any of your business Leo Girrl or El Sup[remo.....

Your republican acquaintances are fairly close-minded. Separation of Church and state is a necessity. How could your acquaintances sense if the gov't desperate to make Mormonism the national faith. How could they sense if if the gov't stated you will be able to desire to not tutor your protestant perspectives? probable not too stable. an identical rights that guard them, guard all of us. Separation of church and state does not advise we won't be able to have our religious perspectives and carry public place of work, or that we do away with freedom of speech and are not allowed to debate our religious perspectives. In different words, have confidence what you prefer, yet do not stress your perspectives upon me. PAT, you're acceptable, that is not got here across in the form. inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it is the chosen technique to make certain freedom of religion. It does mean that the gov't isn't meant to advise any faith or attempt to regulate any faith. It does not advise the we've lost our freedom of speech. This creates a outstanding line between a political determine claiming a undeniable faith and the government.endorsing a undeniable faith. additionally this creates a outstanding line between maximum folk of human beings desirous to assert placed a manger scene up and the gov't endorsing Christianity over say Hinduism. it is the place the controversy lies, nevertheless. The unimportant crap. placed the manger scene up in a church for the Christain, or do not look on the manger scene for others. that is not a forcing of ideals, it is purely nitpicky BS led to by human beings being too truthfully indignant.

" Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make half the world fools and half hypocrites,to support roguery and error all over the world " ( Thomas Jefferson)

OK numbskull, I guess all the framers/signers of the Constitution were atheists....try again...and this is or was a country based on Judeo Christian ideals. Better read the history books before you start posting facts about which you know nothing.

The Constitution prevents the establishment of a theocracy as it prevents religious worship from being denied or attacked.

You do know that we have separation of church and state. It is freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. I can feel very comfortable in stating that the only ones making this an issue are secular liberals.
