Either it is low on oil, you have a stuck valve lifter and/or the lifters need adjustment or the oil pump is failing.
My bet is that your valve train needs adjusting.
There are some oil additives that might help free up a stuck lifter, check at your local parts house.
An oil gauge will tell if your oil pump is failing.
A stuck lifter creates a single repetitive ticking noise.
Lifters needing adjustment makes more of very constant "grumbling" or ticking and tocking hodgepodge of a sound(sorry don't really know how to describe it in words)

F.I.Y.Tappet is Britspeak for lifter

You have the Singer sewing machine edition. Does the noise change speed with the engine speed? Lifters?

If the noise seems to be coming from the engine, the noise may be either a tappet out of adjustment or a dry tappet which is not being lubricated.

This could be a defective lifter. If so you might need to have a auto shop look at it. It may require a engine swap.

Try running thicker oil on your next oil change with an additive.
