My roommate in particular freakin loves to play the victim more than the piano. Today, she is going on a trip. She thinks that someone is going to take advantage of her, but it seems like she believes she is so important someone will really want to. She made me angry a few minutes ago by saying " I'm a single white female." like that is the only reason someone would attack her. I said why does it matter if you are white. You can be attacked if you are hispanic, black, or asian.
Also, this vietnamese guy likes her; she told me her mother does not want her going on the trip with him because of the recent incident at Virginia Tech. I asked her why because the guy was Korean not but Vietnamese. I told my mother about this and she just laughed because it was ridiculous. Anyway, this guy is 5'0-5'2 ft. and would not hurt a fly. So why does my roommate and her family think he is going to transform into the Cho? And Why does she insist on playing the victim?

I said some white people. Not ALL. If you can't understand the question then don't answer or go back to grade school.

I do not think this is necessarily about race, however, it sounds like her mother is a woman who is incredibly terrified of things that are pretty ridiculous. Like don't date an Asian person, because of the Virginia Tech thing? Then she shouldn't date white people either, because Columbine the guys were white, and the Oklahoma City Bomber was white.
Maybe you should 'call' your roommate on some of this stuff. It sounds like she is pretty immature and needs to get a handle on this. Being a single white female does not make you anymore of a 'victim' than being a single (any color) female.
Sorry your roommate is pretty lame.
She needs to get over herself and realize that she is not that special.

Honestly, this girl and her family seem to have issues.I don't think she is playing a victim, she just sounds dumb.Everyone is equal, and events will transpire no matter what race someone is.People picked up on the VT matter not only because it was the worst shooting ever, but also because the US in in turmoil with foreign countries and because the shooter happened to be foreign.I don't think your roommate realizes that the US is no longer as predominatly "white" anymore. We are a melting pot,and should be proud to be so.People who are racist or judge any kind of matter based on race are ignorant and uneducated.I hate how racism still comes into play in this world,I am a BIG 2Pac fan,and have caught flak over it for years because I'm a "white girl".Anyways,And that's what I have to say 'bout that lol.

Well, it depends on their background. I'm white but was an Army brat (up to 12-I'm 22 now). We were all green, as taught by the army, so this racism crap is newer to me than civilian whites. Normally, white people teach their kids this crap. Especially white girls like you mentioned. It really starts at home and GETS WORSE THE MORE MONEY THAT THEY HAVE.

I am white and date outside my race all the time and feel guilty a lot for how SOME, IDIOTIC WHITES act in general (to her -in the past and the present--and about our relationship. It kills me to know so so so many people still haven't got a clue yet and it is 2007!!!

I don't think it has to do with race. She was probably raised to think the world is a dangerous place. If you watch the news all you hear is bad things. She's overreacting. I don't think she meant that other races aren't ever hurt by others, she probably just thinks too highly of herself. Like, she's cocky and thinks since she's so"good looking" that criminals would single her out. She's delusional... but please don't make this about race. I don't play the victim, ever, and I'm white.

This doesn't seem to be something soley associated with white people, it seems there are alot of people of all races that do this. Why do you feel the need to discriminate?

Who knows, maybe a past experience made so paranoid(if that's the proper word). Tell her she shouldn't paint the devil or it'll appear. If your not sure what I meant, it's the pink elephant theory. If she keeps thinking someone'll do something to her, then it will happen.

there is alot of white people slipping into the underclass courtesy of our present government so i think we are going through culture shock as in trying to acclamatise to our status drop and one of the symptoms of that is seeing ourselves as the victim.

Sigh.. here we go with the race card again.. you do realize that you're being racist in saying that "white people love to play the victim" right? Why can't EVERYONE just see EVERYONE for WHO they are? NOT what colour their skin is?

She should be more worried about being attacked by black people, they're the ones committing all the crime.
