Would it matter if it was a delicate cycle, and it was hung to dry? Does it also matter what kind of dry clean only clothes? Like, a pair of somewhat dressy pants compared to like, a jacket?

It's 97% cotton, 3% spandex, if that matters at all.

Also, it's got lots of hemispheric buttons on it. I imagine those might start to fall off if it gets washed a lot. Would something like that prompt a "dry clean only" label?

You will soon find out! Some clothes you can get by with washing on a gentle cycle but watch it when you dry them in the dryer they may shrink or lose their shape. I would lay them out on a table and block them.

Nothing good happens. Clothes won't clean properly. They may shrink. The fabric may shred. Colors may fade or run. There is a reason the tag says "dry clean only." It may be OK to hand wash light-colored wool sweaters in cold water Woolite. But you have to lay them flat to dry.

it really dependsonthe cothing. i recently tried it with a pair of slacks - dressy lined, etc that were dry clean only that i messed up and figured i'd try. while they came out okay - they lost that crispness. jackets would be more challenging as they need that crispness to stay looking good - also they are a bugger to iron!

If it says "dry clean only" don't put them in
soap and water. It causes them to look as
though you slept in them. Also some of the
colors will become a lighter color.
