The hymen doesn't go over the area where the tampon goes in, not completely, so if you're careful and don't jab the tampon on there you can avoid breaking your hymen and don't need a doctor or anything. I guess that's how some people manage to break it, just not completely knowing where it is, if you do you can avoid breaking it. *hope I helped*

If you're an adult, chances are that your hymen has been torn already due to any number of things or activities (sports, tampons, masturbating, riding a bike, stretching, etc). While doctors can tear your hymen, she may be right by saying that you're just scared or nervous - because you can clench your vaginal muscles without knowing it, making it hard (or impossible) for him to enter you. Relax, make sure he goes slow, fingers you first, uses lube, and makes sure you're comfortable. If this is really bothering you, go back to your doctor to make sure there's nothing anatomical preventing you from having sex, and ask her suggestions on how to make it easier. The first time it's likely to hurt or be uncomfortable (it did for me), but once you get over the initial discomfort, then it gets better. Good luck.

I would say to start out just try using the tampons for light flow with the plastic applicator. People that I know use the Pearl one so maybe that one would be a start. And yes, it might hurt because you will be inserting the tampon inside, but it should get better, and if it doesn't, then I would say talk to your doctor if possible and see what other alternatives you have so that you can participate in your swimming activites. Good luck!

You *should* be able to use a tampon without breaking it. That being said, a friend of mine broke hers with a tampon. She said it didnt' hurt that badly.

umm no. You don't need to break your hymen to use a tampon.
