People die in plane crashes, car crashes, swimming pools, snake bites, house fires, etc... Yet, we haven't banned cars, planes, swimming pools, snakes, houses, or even fireplaces in houses.

If lots of people kept dying on all the existing rollercoasters, they'd probably be banned... but since the deaths tend to be far and few between the successful rides, there's really no need to ban them. Now, the ones you mention, should probably be closed down long enough for a good inspection, repair, and test runs, before being reopened.

People die on roller coasters because they're too stupid to stay sitting or things like that. They know roller coasters are dangerous, but by getting on one they choose to ignore the risk.

That is a legitimate question in a ban happy society. But I don't want to be rolled up in bubble wrap and tucked into a rubber room for my own 'safety'. You couldn't pay me to get on one of those things, and I wouldn't allow my kids on one either. But I don't have the right to decide for everyone else.

They can't, because it's people's responsibility when they go on one even though it's dangerous. Just like bungee jumping or skydiving, when you do it you are taking the risk into your own hands and you waive the responsibility. It's a free country and people are allowed to do what they want even if it's dangerous, it's their choice.

Why is it that we think we should ban anything that might hurt us. You could choke to death on a jaw breaker. Should they be outlawed. You could drive over the side of the road and plunge to your death going to Mt. St. Helens. Should we close this? And did you know you could actually get hurt walking in your sleep? Maybe we should require safety belts.

Getting out of bed in the morning can be dangerous. Deal with it. You can't ban everything that's "dangerous". Pretzels are dangerous, just ask GWB !

uhm...spellcheck please. but they cannot be banned because too many people enjoy them and take the risk of getting on them. Roller coasters get checked by professionals often and if someone gets on that has any illnesses that may cause injury or are pregnany or too small, they are liable for their own body.
