The idea of soul mates comes to us from Plato. He believed that originally all humans had both male and female attributes and at birth the souls were split into male/female. Thus we spend our lives looking for this co-equal. Others have posited the same idea in different forms. For example, Cayce said this about Atlantis, that originally all people were male/female. I do not believe it.

No. An intended soul mate implies destiny and I dont believe in destiny either. Life is what you make of it.
If you are blinded by possibilities, you'll never see what is available in front of you. Even in a relationship, you'll always think "what if..." or "my current mate is ok but what if I found my soulmate." You'll never fully commit if you think taht way.
Relationships are not achieved (by meeting your soulmate) but built on by understanding each other.
People that say "yes" have no basis for it other than faith in the idea that there is one.

Plato postulated that we have all been seperated from that which would make us whole, and that part of the agony of our existence is that we cannot find that part that is missing. Is this missing part our "soulmate". Perhaps, but others have thought that the crevice in our soul that yearns for fulfillment cannot be satisfied by any finite thing. For example, Augustine understood that the lack that we feel inside ourselves cannot be filled with anything finite, even something as noble as a relationship of love-- the emptiness that we encounter within ourselves, according to Augustine, belongs to God-- thus his famous maxim-- "You have made us for yourself O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in thee." Just a thought. Do with it what you will.

Yes, I think we have many soul mates because there are so many people in this world and finding the "ONE" in your area can be challenge let alone in the world... But I do believe if you allow yourself your soul, mind, heart can be connected to someone.

"To attract a satisfying soul mate vibration, one must first become satisfied with one's self. By practicing self-love, it creates a doorway for a soul mate vibration to see you. Take some time out of your busy schedule today and practice self-love. A little practice can create a new habit!" --Alana

~~~kadgeeee, I believe it is possible because I already experienced it. My husband and I were soulmates. At night when we slept we even had the same dreams. Then he died. And a part of me died with him. I don't think I'll ever get that piece of my soul back until we are reunited. I guess the people who disagree with me just need to experience it for themselves. Thank you for letting me say that.~~~
