3rd finger on left hand for married, 3rd finger on right hand for widowed.

Different countries have different customs..
In the US and most other westernized countries it's the ring finger of the left hand.. finger next to the smallest finger, the second finger in from the left when looking at the back of your left hand...

In N.Am., most people wear them on the left hand. However, for some cultures, they wear the ring on the right. For example, we wear ours on the right hand; husband is from Eastern Europe, and it's their tradition there, so my husband asked that we keep that tradition.

hmm well normally its the left ring finger. however, a person might put the ring on the right hand if they are left handed because of use of that hand often for hand labor or if is uncomfortable.

in american culture it is typically worn on the left hand ring finger but there are cultres that wear it on the right. if a woman is widowed it can be worn on the right ring finger as well.
