AOL did a recent poll on Katie Couric's popularity with America and only 11% of Americans liked her. Why? Can anyone tell me what she has done to lose favor with the American public since she moved to prime time news?

Katie has one big problem. Many people look at anchors on television as authority figures, and they are used to having something "fatherly" -- read male -- in that role. It's a big change to have just one woman alone on the network news, and it will take time for Couric to overcome that.
That said, there are plenty of good female anchors on television at local stations. Whether Couric stays on or if someone else comes in, equality is inevitable.
One other note: CBS' news division has been in a bit of turmoil for the past several years. It's shown up on the air. Anchors tend to get too much of the credit and the blame for ratings, when good, solid reporting usually is main issue.

Katie Couric is a self absorbed liberal. Katie thinks every one should be a self absorbed liberal. She sits on the TV, Web where ever with a very sweet smile and delivers a LIBERAL point of view, Katie does not try to be down the middle of the road in her misguided mind Katie is quiet comfortable with every one should be LIBERAL. So there it is Katie draws a line in the sand and states like what I am doing or leave. Guess what Katie... a lot of people so OK we will not listen to a single word you speak and anyone who hires you must feel the same way you feel so those that hire you are suspect and worthy of being watched., Note yahoo you are being watched and you may get turned off.... no money will stink. G

Katie Couric believes everyone in the world should be like . . . well, Katie Couric. She presents a homogenized and self-obsessed standard of Perfection, and presents it with a smugness that makes gritted teeth approach pandemic levels in this country.

It's not HATE here, I just don't get why Katie Couric is given such adulation. Not at all. Based upon the fact that she masterfully integrates HERSELF/HER PART IN EVERYTHING into nearly every other sentence she speaks AT her guests on the show and other public appearances- and witnessing all the blind butt-kissing the show's guests invariably lavish on her, she has become positively contemptible to put up with for my taste anyway. It's "I", "I", "I" constantly. She must have her degree in 'name dropping' by now as well. Guests are marched on the stage seemingly so KC can ultimately be thanked. Her eyes, mouth and body language betray her phoney interest and who hasn't had quite enough of the tool she uses ad adnauseaum of pretending to be so flawed and self-disparaging. No sale. Give us a break. B-o-r-i-n-g KC, just boring. Even her nasal voice grates with it's lack of authentic interest. Katie, please go set your ego in the fridge for an hour, step out with a neutral perspective and re-watch just one of the shows. It could make a difference. Sending you well wishes for better things ahead.

I am not a hater BUT Katie Couric is just really bad man.
I didn't really like her when she was on the Today Show because she was just so egotistical and overly competitive it was always me me me , yuck yuck yuck !
Then when CBS made the monumental mistake of replacing Veteran Newscaster Bob Schieffer with Katie Couric everybody was like your going to do WHAT? with WHO? you gotta be kidding me.
I mean granted Bob Schieffer is a tough act to follow but Katie was just ..... words fail me. Really bad on so many levels.
So to answer your question what did Katie Couric do to lose favor .....She allowed her ego to suggest that she could replace Bob Schieffer and that it would work out for her.
She is not in the same league and it shows.

Katie Couric is hated because she is a lawyer, and that is a good reason to hate anybody.
We need non-jurist conservative spokesmen out there not professional mouthpieces. Nobody in their right mind would trust a lawyer.

l just looked up Katie Couric on the net and there is no where that says she is a lawyer. l think the public isn't ready for a female anchor. l don't watch her but l didn't watch the Today show either but l would think she was better suited for that type show..

Hate is an extreme word. I can only give you my reasons for not liking her. She seems to be a bit distant and doesnt have much affect to set her apart from any of the other newscasters. They really should have put someone else with a stronger image, but we dont get to do the picking. I just watch Charlie Gibson. He never lets me down.
