I'm 18, a virgin, and I've not had a period for 5 months!!!!!!! I've been to the doctor, and she said to wait it out... that was 4 months a go... nothing's happened. I've never been on BC, never taken any medical procedures for my peropds either... I've been all natural. Does anyone have any clue why I'm skipping for so long??? Nothing the doctor prescribes helps... like less stress, avoid strenuous activities, drink water... nothing helps. Any clue???

Stress, Weight Gain/Loss, or Exercise Change.
I had this problem for a really long time. My period would be regular, and then it decided not to come for 3 months.
I know that you are a virgin, congrats, but just so you know, my period seemed to regulate itself after I lost mine. I'm thinking a hormone change.
Go back to your doctor and ask for some BC. Same Hormones, and you get to keep your virginity.

Are you dieting or doing a lot of exercise? Aeorobics or gymnastics? Have you gone to the gyno not just a doctor? You need a new doctor then because something else may be wrong. What is your diet like? You know that the period works to relieve you of all the nasties your body does not need. Maybe you do not need a period that often or you eat pretty healthy and just what you need. Still it's really weird and may be dangerous so get that checked out again JUST TO BE SURE.

Hey.. first of all, i'm proud of you for being a virgin. I have a friend who has her period three months apart, however she still gets it regular. Hmmm. You know I used to have all kinds of wierd period problems, i had it every two weeks, very heavy each time, and terribly painful always. I used a German medicine that REALLY helped, and very fast. It's called Wunderbalsam. You take 40 drops of it a day diluted in water. It's some kind of herb mix. If you don't wanna find that stuff, then there's a herb you should be able to pick wild outside in your field called yarrow. It's for health in the "female system".... helping anything having to do with period. I've tried this too. I use a coffee maker to make peppermint tea, and then put a TINY amount of yarrow in it (because yarrow's very bitter). Hope any of this helps. It did for me. I currently am in the cycle with no pain. (I'm 16)

Are you an athlete? Or do you workout a lot? It is very common for women who are very active in sports not to get their menstrual cycle for months at a time. I have friends who run track and they rarely get their periods. I also have friends who spend hours upon hours in the gym and they rarely get their periods too; your level of activity effects your body's normal functions. Once you lower your level of activity, you will be fine. If you are not super active, you are doing the right thing by speaking to your doctor. I recommend keeping that line of communication open because I am sure that your doctor will figure this problem out soon enough. Good Luck!

RU very skinny or very athletic?
Girls who go into training or go on severe diets often have this problem, and it is due to hormonal changes. If the body is too skinny, the body believes it is "starving" and so it shuts off the periods to prevent a baby being born that will "starve to death" because its mom is not getting enough food.
Give it a couple more months, then you will need the gyn workup to make sure your body is not having some problem.

I don't have answers but more questions for you to ask. Have they done an ultrasound to determine if there are any cysts or tumors? Do you have any eating disorders? Body fat content if too low will affect your period. Have any blood tests been run to determine your hormone levels? Has a medical history been taken to determine your family history regarding menstruation? If not, you can ask your doctor to do these things and if he/she refuses, at 18 you are legal and can find another doctor!

Well if you have a lot of stress then that could be it. Or dieting or exercise. And if you dont get it any time soon than ask for a certain pill.
My sister sisnt have hers for 5 months and they put her on a pill that made her have it.

I would go to another gynocologist. The same thing happened to me and mine yelled at me for waiting so long to see him. It's not normal or healthy to miss your period for that long. However, it's not anything to be overly worried about because most causes are just hormonal.
