No, it is in NO MEANS STUPID!!! Dancing is fun, it's great exercise, you get to meet people with similar interests as you, it's a GREAT hobby! A lot of people nowadays are starting to take Dance Classes later in life, I think it has to do with the popularity in Dance on TV & in Movies right now, like "So You Think You Can Dance" etc.. I started Dancing when I was 5yrs old (Highland [Scottish] Dancing), I did Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and some hip-hop. I was in dancing for about 12yrs, I haven't danced in YEARS, and I would LOVE to take Dance again. There are some advantages to starting older, even when I was a kid, I had problems with how they wanted us to dress in the shows, at 15, you're old enough to wear those things and not look wrong. I say GO FOR IT!!! If you want to do it for WHATEVER REASON, do it, you'll love it! I would recommend Jazz to start, or Hip-Hop. Have you looked online to see what types of Dance Classes are available near you? Have Fun!!

I'm a dance teacher and have Mum's between 30-50 years old nagging me to start a dance class for them to begin with. Therefore, your not too old at 15. I've danced for 20 years this year and it is the best thing ever. GOOD LUCK

while you are much older than the average person who normally starts dance classes, I think it is always good to take on a new hobby. At least at 15 you are sure it is something you really want to do, and it is not something that your parents are forcing you to do.

I wanted to take ballet in high school, but I had no previous experience, and I was always afraid to try because I thought it was too late for me to do it. I thought once you were out of elementary school you couldn't begin something like that. I wish I had really pursued it simply because i might have had fun with it, even if i wasn't very good. so yeah, i say go for it.

NO! The art of dance will bring many benefits to a young person and enrich their appreciation when viewing dancers performing. Watch dancing with the starts for all that I have said. And fifteen is just about right for someone to learn; balance, stature, poise and do healthy exercise. Good luck and enjoy.

you might feel awkward for not starting when you were younger, but there's nothing wrong with it. I'm 15, and would love to get back into dancing, especially a hip hop class. If it's what you want to do, do it.

If you are doing it for the exercise and enjoyment of the dance, it is not stupid. If you are doing it because you want to be a star with the New York Ballet, one New York word of advice - fergetaboutit.

i'm a hip hop dancer and instructor. I pop, lock, and do somewhat breakdancing. i'm also a conflict dancer. Dont positioned on JAZZ clothing or shoes to a HIP HOP class...i nevertheless dont understand why human beings imagine it really is suitable or maybe cool. positioned on shoes. positioned on some loose pants and a tank. with experience you'll locate clothing that flatter your dance sort. Dont positioned on a blouse it really is merely too loose because you pick be in a position to work out your circulate to boot. for pants i advice Adidas sweat pants or loose wind breaker sort pants. about the shoes...a tremendous form of hip hop dancers are wearing light-weight PUMA shoes. they are so mild and dont squeak. i have worked with professionals that positioned on those. merely about each and every breakdancer i understand has a pair and they are those doing the most with their ft.

No, you should go for it. One of my friends started at 16 and although she had to work really hard to catch up with all the other people in her class she is really good now. I'm 16 and see people starting later and later. Just work hard at it and stay dedicated. Ballet takes dicipline.
