For instance, in France, polls during presidential runs are banned during election day and few days before. Thus Internet, SMS and many other services are offering from neighboring countries what is locally forbidden...

So, do you think that countries like France have to change their laws regarding political polls and if yes don't you think that this will turns polls into decision makers instead of indicators ?

I believe polls should be banned completely during a presidential campaign. All they do is bias voters to vote for the candidate who is leading in them. So I say, get rid of them for presidential campaigns!

I think on one level it makes sense. However I think that if congress tried to pass a law like that here it would quickly be challenged and eventually be ruled unconstitutional.

An alternative would be to expand early voting. In Florida and in other states people can vote 2 weeks before the actual election. If that were enacted nationally and people encouraged to vote as early as possible, the influence of last minute polls would be diminished.

Yes, you wouldn't believe how many voters vote based on who other people are voting for. Most people are uneducated about candidates, so they just hear about a poll and assume "Well, if everyone else likes them, they must be great" and vote for that candidate.

Watch what happens after Iowa and New Hampshire, it's like all of a sudden "OH MY GOSH! We have a new frontrunner! THIS person is now the best candidate!" and then people in the next primaries vote more for that person.. just remember that at the beginning of the year in 2008...

yeah the polls shld run till the election results coz i think ppl like the country n france are inteligent enough tht they wont go with the polls and if they are goin then they can change their mind set with any thing if thts nt polls like n many countries the contestant bribe the voters and get the votes so for the elite voters if wont matters wht the television is saying they will definatly go with theier vision and their choide rather then the one who s the winner on the TV.

I have worked in Chicago politics for years and there it really is unlawful. they do no longer enable electioneering withing 30 ft of a polling position. I have even considered voters interior polling places .informed to take their political buttons off even as they are contained in the polling position. human beings passing literature outdoors the polling position should be 30 ft away. marketing campaign indications outdoors the polling position should be 30 ft away. The regulations ought to variety from state by state, yet i imagine them all have some version. One enterprising flesh presser had cupcakes dropped at each and each and every of the polling places as treats for the election judges. On good of each and every of the cupcakes became written, vote for therefore-and-so, in icing. A marketing campaign worker became compelled to pass in a nook and scrape each and each and every of the lettering off each and each and every of the cupcakes.

Polls are evil and quite manipulative. I would do away with them. The media would go in hysterics though. It would be as it they were blind...
