It doesnt matter what your boat is made of the paint system is near identical.

Epoxy undercoat then a marine grade 2 pack top coat unless fairing is required for steel, aluminium, carbon fibre and fibreglass

Fibreglass hulls with gelcoat finish have to be assessed on its condition usually alot easier to paint if has a bit of age about it as gelcoat becomes pourous over the years especially in tropical climates

Steel and aluminium only require a etching primer then a epoxy building primer for protection from rust and corrosion if rust etc has started to appear

wooden hulls are different unless they have fibreglass shething to stop the timber from moving

use a single pack enamel paint system which includes a timber primer for brae timber, aenamel undercoat and a topcoat

international marine paint sell every thing that youll need

It depends on what the boat is made from, wood, fiberglass, aluminum or steel.

Wood just uses a marine paint.
Fiberglass uses a gel coat base paint.
Aluminum has a paint of its own, and other types should not be used.
Steel uses a heavy anti rust paint.

Usually a gelcoat finish is used on boats...very tough. A paint supply store will carry this. Paul
