Believe me Bush wanted the funding for the BlackWater USA mercenaries that are 100,000 troops strong in Iraq. This is what the Democrats were trying to expose over the PORK spending.

The Liberals aren't going to give this a rest. It will be their mantra for 2 years. Will it sell?
It is so apparent to me, from looking at that bill, that the Democrats in Congress KNEW Bush would veto it. It is a dream-list of domestic PORK. And required deadlines.
Americans who care about our troops should be very angry at Congress for this bill.

It is not up to Bush to "fund the troops". Congress must allocate the money. Unfortunately Congress tagged on a bit too much to its funding bill, including mandatory withdrawal deadlines. Bush's veto was upheld and now the Dems are coming to his table.
The troops are getting paid.

Funding is provided by Congress, not the President. Congress has not yet approved a satisfactory bill to do so.

The Dems deliberately added pork spending to make sure that the President would veto. You can't be that naive.
