I burn easily but then tan. I have never been tanning at a salon and I want to get a a base tan and then proceed to get darker. any thoughts on how long I should go in, how many times a week I should go? what lotion to use while tanning and then afterwards?

also, should i get one with a bronzer? I don't want to be streaky like, and a nice smelling lotion would be a great thing!! :)

u could try an accelerator/bronzer combo...accelerator to stimulate the melanin in your skin & bronzer to give some immediate color while waiting for your own natural tan to develop (careful tho, cuz some bronzers stain & will NOT wash out of clothing!)...i personally do not like bronzers, but i`m fortunate enough not to need them...try going 3-4x a week, starting at about 5 min...if all goes well, u can increase your sessions by a min or 2 each time then...swedish beauty, pro tan & fiesta sun make good lotions..."git `r` done" by fiesta sun is the best after-tan moisturizer around, it has a nice vanilla-y scent!!! excellent!!! happy tanning!!!

I'm am a very fair person myself, so fair you can see my veins. Im 18.. anyways, I use to go tanning at least 5 days a week for 2 months! going from 10 minutes to 20. It's totally not worth it, I also used a tanning lotion so i would tan faster.

It's not worth it to go to a tanning salon if you are fair because, if i stopped tanning for 2 weeks, the tan would go away wayyyyy tooo fast, because I have fair skin, I got really dark, then back to white in 2 weeks. Its better just to use a self tanner. Plus the tanning salon gave me visible sun spots all across my nose.. and my mother got skin cancer at 14 and had to have it cut out of her nose. So, no more tanning for my fair ***.

listen, would you purposely burn your skin on the stove?
I would hope not. Just to let you know that when you accidently burn your self on the stove, the burn is first red, then it sometimes blisters, then it turns brown. That is exactly what the sun is doing. the sun turns your skin red, then it sometimes blisters (depending on how bad the burn is), then it turns brown. After wards it peels cause the body is ridding of the damaged skin. Tanning is NOT good for you.

try starting out with 15 minute sun exposure and use an 8 sunscreen, don't use sunblock, it takes forever to get any color, once you have a "base" you can stay in the sun longer and start lowering the sunscreen down to 6/4/2.
Happy Tanning
PS if you're starting in a tanning bed, make sure you clean it before and after you use it and use australian gold iced cream accelerator, its the BEST!

Believe it or not it is okay to get sun on your body....it actually helps the bones absorb vitamin D and releases endorphins in your brain to help regulate your moods....just remember everything in moderation, you'll do fine.

my skin is the exact same way. it burns easily- then fades to a tan. i would say, go in for 5 min. once or twice a week to build on your tan. once you are at a good tan, go one more time. then it will look natural.

start off slow and work your way up.
go for 10 or 15 min. 2 times a week and add on as you see fit.
you wont burn from it though so dont worry!!
