How long do "friends with benefits" relationships usually last?
I've had a friend like this for over 6 months now and we spend the night together about 3 times a week, go out on weekends, etc. Have any of you had a friend like this and eventually become a regular couple? If so, how did it happen? If not, how did your "friendship" end?

Ive had one since I was in my teens. Even now when we see each other, after being friends for 10 years, we still have benefits when we do see each other. He is my best friend in the world and we both understand it for what it is. As long as you're safe and do not expect anything more out of it, unless you have a long long talk first. Its up to you where you want to take it. Just remember there is another person in this friendship, and if things go wrong, you stand a chance of losing that friend.

I guess the other girls are too afraid to answer, this is my take on how things go... If a girl is attracted to a guy, loved the sex, but sees a potential problem such as how your lives would mesh, style of living clashes, spending clashes, but she is still quite interested she might offer fwb first out of fear of catching feelings and then finding the incompatibility is too great and hurting everyone involved. If a girl dosent give a cr&p, not only will she just use the fwb but you will never hear from her again. If a girl wants a relationship she will have a hard time not telling you asap how much she cares and then drunk dialing you when she gets lonely unless another girl is around to stop her from making an a*z out of herself.

Spending the night together 3 times a week seems more like a relationship to me.

Mine lasted a year. I ended it because I was ready to find a serious committed relationship and I knew as time went by we were getting too attached. If one of you secretly wants to have a relationship with the other, it probably won't work. The rules have to be clearly defined, and you have to determine how much emotionaly intimacy there will be (ie., will you call the other one for advice or emotional support?)

Mine lasted over 5 years. We just kind of drifted apart. I was open about dating other people and we just kept seeing each other. For a while I thought there was a chance at being a couple, but there wasn't. There were no bad feelings, it just ended.

sounds intersting. I never had that kind of relationship. I think most would thing you are very lucky! :)

I could be wrong, but if I read between the lines, it sounds like you might have more intense feelings for this guy than just "friends with bennies" feelings. Would I be right about that?

If so, and you are wondering how he feels, there is only going to be one way to truly find out....talk with him.

It depends on the situation I suppose. I have had FWB that lasted forever and never went any further and one that all on its own became more. Typically they end when one of the persons gets a significant other. Hope this helps

So far 2 1/2 years. But, she refuses to commit and I'm moving away in August, so it's gonna end then.

it will end until you both either meet someone else who you care more for oR until you both realize that you want to be together as a real couple.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
