Houston is very multicultural. Mostly all areas are diverse. I love North houston burbs. That is where most of my family resides. I almost never go to SE or SW Houston. Stay away from SW houston unless you opt for Sugarland, TX which a SW burb of Houston. It a burb not SW side of houston which has crime. Sugarland is expensive. There are celebrities who live out there(NBA, NFL and other high profile folks)

I recommend Kingwood, TX, Humble, TX and Atascocita, TX all are NE Houston burbs about 20 mins north of downtown. check out www.humblearea.com Also Lake Houston area is nice(Beyonce's parents have a house out there)

I love The Woodlands, TX because it is great for raising a family if you are at that stage. It is 30-40 mins north of downtown Houston and has a toll road to travel south to Houston. www.thewoodlands.com

Hey whats up. It all depends on how far north or south you want to go. Houston is so big, that it can drastically change within a few miles. Both sides are nice I suppose, if I had to choose either far north or far south I would go with north. The traffic on 45 is a *****, and the north is more diverse. Do not rule out inner loop especially if you want diversity. If I was you I would just move near work. Houston will drain your gas like you cant imagine, and anything to avoid traffic is a blessing. I hope I was somewhat Helpful

Good Luck with the move

I'm sorry, but in Houston the phrases "multicultural" and "best areas" are not synonymous. The closest you could find would be Montrose, but that's getting overpriced.

Houston is 640 square miles of city. It is over 50 miles from the northernmost to southernmost part, and 40 miles east to west. Your best bet for an affordable but nice area to move into would be a suburb.

The "best" part int he Northwest area of Harris County/Houston. However, you said that you wanted a multicultural area, so you are looking at the Southwest part of the area.

you really have to just go and see for yourself. each part of houston has its own charm. i am from very southeast part of houston on the water next to nasa and i love it. its very suburban so depends what you like. be careful because a few minutes away you can be in high crime areas.

South side is multi-cultural as it comes (but also a bad side)...

Northside (better) but also multi-cultural.

I don't know your background....but I will give you a couple of places nice to live (pretty much you will find that Houston is a very diverse City, you see allot of interracial couples here)....

Area's and their cultural ethnic/color/origin people:

The Woodlands (affluent mostly white, very few blacks/spanish)
Kingwood (affluent mostly white, but has some blacks)
ClearLake (affluent mostly white, has some blacks & spanish)
Sugar Land (affluent whites & asians)
I-10 & Heights (lots of Spanish & Blacks, few whites)
Katy (affluent middle class lots of white, but a good mix)
Around downtown you will find the wards (mostly black)
Acre Homes (mostly black)
Humble, Texas (suburban great mix of whites/blacks/spanish/asian)
Galleria (inner city, high traffic great mix of cultures)
River Oaks (Affluent older area mostly white, but surrounded by allot of diversity communities including the mostly gay area of Montrose)
Champions (Affluent area; white////great cultural mix out this way)
Stubener Airline/Greenspoint (mostly black/spanish some whites)
Eastex Freeway between downtown & Beltway (Sam Houston Tollway) mixed with Spanish & Black mostly
I-45 toward Dallas between downtown & Sam Houston Tollway mixed with Spanish & Black mostly
SE/SW has a high influx of Muslem's from places like Sumolia (have a friend that is and helps allot of new comers to Houston in her religion.)
New Caney/Porter/Cleveland = Mostly white communities with some black & Spanish
Conroe = Great mix of Black/Spanish/white

Hope that helps.

If you want multicultural, you need to move to NYC. Houston is black, white, and illegal aliens.
