Well, we all know that Elvis is the King of Rock -n- Roll and Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, but who's the King (or Queen) of Music?

I know some of you like these bands like Green Day or whatever, and I'd like to warn you, that this question is only for true listeners of the music.

I'm not asking who's your favorite, I'm asking who's the best in the world. Band or solo artist, who is it?

By the way, it doesn't HAVE to be Elvis or Michael. Anyone you think could qualify. But, I don't want to hear Green Day or Akon. I only want people who have or could survive the true test of time, like Elvis Presley or The Beatles. Popular then- popular now. Even though they're old, they still remain in our hearts. Who's popular now, that you think could do this? Who's already done it? I'd like to know.

deffinetly the Beatles. they've deffinetly won the hearts of multiple generations, & today their songs are sung by high school kids & working moms alike. I'm a 13 year old & i love them. my parents & all my friends parents love them. my friends love them. they did in 10 years what others couldn't do in 30. not only that but they crossed over to diferent countries & genres, spreading their influence even more.

Elvis Presley, definately. Like you said, he's the King of Rock -n- Roll, but he's also the King of Music. With his Rock, he's shaped music. Without him, there's be no music. Or, at least no good music. Even bands or solo artists that you mentioned, that probably won't survive the test of time (Green Day, Akon) wouldn't be around without Elvis. People love Green Day now, and those sort of people probably don't like Elvis. Well, you don't have to love Elvis to appreciate him. If those Green Day listeners know anything about music, they should appreciate Elvis Presley. Yes, E|vis has changed all music after him. Without Elvis, there'd be NO modern...

...Rock
Hip-Hop
Rap
Pop
Jazz
R&B
Country...

...Or anything else ya'll listen to. Not his music, but the fact I've just presented, is in my eyes what makes Elvis Presley "The King" (of course- I love his music, too). This is what seperates Elvis from Michael Jackson, for they're both extremely talented, however, Elvis made Michael.

What an excellent question! Of course, there are many candidates to choose from. Although it will probably be a very popular answer, I would have to say The Beatles. The McCartney/Lennon songwriting is just so top notch. Also, their songs are so diverse - from While my Guitar Gently Weeps to Come Together. Just my .02

Wow, tough question... *thinking*... well, I know which people would qualify but I'm not sure who should take it. I mean, there's Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Jimi Hendricks (no, not Jimi... he didn't live long enough for me)... those names come to mind. Michael's in there too (I was never an Elvis fan) but I really can't decide. Nice question though.

Kind of a silly question; there are hundreds of different kinds of music so who is going to be the king of all of them? come on.

You have too much time on your hands
