Use a cheap test light. With ignition on, poke tip into wire and have alligator clip to a ground. Whichever wire lights the bulb is your hot wire.
The reason for this is to VERIFY which is hot. There is no 100% accurate color scheme to quote on the wiring as a generality. Verify it for yourself and you will know which wire is hot, no matter the color. This is a good habit to pick up.

Black is associated with ground and cars are most often a negative ground. The other wiring scheme uses red as hot which is the supply side, again by convention the positive. But check the connections at the battery to be sure.

Could be either, cars are not like houses. Most often the negative will be black but you cannot count on that without a wiring diagram. If you are looking at the battery the negative is most often black and the positive is red. What are you trying to wire?

KR is right, different makes of cars and models have different color wires. the main battery cables are black for ground, red for pos, but individual circuits can be any cloor, the relay should have a diagram with it somewhere.. as for the light circuit, get a diagram or use a test light or multi meter to find your ground

red is positive and black is negative, the thing you are wiring up the white goes to the positive and the black to ground.

Usually black, but some dumb electrician might have wired it. You should check them with a voltmeter if you're not sure.
