Red Wings fans aren't the only fans to throw things on the ice.
During the Nashville Sharks series the Nashville fans threw catfish on the ice.
The last game at San Jose someone threw a shark--yes, that's right--a shark---a REAL shark on the ice.
They are not showing favoritism to the Wings.
To all the Sharks fans that have answered your question--- all of this whining when your team loses is getting old.

I am a Sharks fan but I haven't been aware of all of the Octopus questions.
Actually, the octopus tradition is pretty cool - a bit of a waste of octopus, but other than that, it's a classic tradition.
(the octopus probably ends up as fish food in some river somewhere anyway, so that should be even less of an issue)
And as far as distractions :) - I am not distracted. These young Sharks need some playoff experience!! And how! But look-out when it's their time :).

Ok I admit it Sharks lost... but it's a 2 way street! Red Wings whine too! So yes I think we should stop talking about the octopus because we threw a shark...whatever! But the thing that needs to stop is Detroit being SOR WINNERS! It does nothing to brag about a win! So once again I say... it's a 2 way street!

Funny isn't how its ok with the sharks fans when their fans throw a dead shark out onto the ice at the last game, yet its a huge deal that the Wings fans threw octopi.

I'm not a SJ fan but there does seem to be a double standard and besides that, yes, your question does reek of stupidity.

the sharks lost, i admit it. it's just that other teams get penalized for throwing stuff on the rink, but detroit is okay with it? shows another reason bettman and the rest of the nhl is screwed up. detroit brings in money, so why piss their fans off?
