I am going to make the assumtion you know how to read and creat engineering drawings already. and are simply looking to learn autocad as a software. with that said....
I have to be honest, learning on your own, is not easy, and learning best practices is nearly imposible. yea you may draw a object, but likely not the best way and may fustrate others when they need to update your design. I highly sugest getting structured training, They have courses for all skill levels that are just a few days long @ about 8 hours each, its a good way to get lots of info in a short time.
If you syill insist on doing it yourself, Then i sugest autodesk course ware. you can find it here http://www.adskconsulting.com/courseware/cat/ad_courseware_cat.php
It is intended for self paced training, but it just walks you through steps, to fully understand what you are doing and why it is done that that way is not always clear.

you get the autocad learning assistance when you buy the cd. what do you mean you want to draw product? autocad is used for "precision" drawings. if you intend to make a sketch or just simply drawing things, try using coreldraw or illustrator. and maybe yet you can use the openoffice draw - its free.

It is also important to know if you have any exposure to imagine, create and applying engineering drawings!
Auto cad you can learn by your own effort though it is not advisable to learn it by self study!
Before you proceed further learning have a correct awareness of engineering drawing creation principles!
An engineering drawing is usually 2D drawing of "articles or objects, which are basically 3 dimensional"!
two methods of converting said 3D objects into 'two dimensional engineering drawings' exist! European countries rely on first angle projection (method of creating 3D article images on three differrent two dimensional planes) and the other is 'third angle projection', ( which is technically similar to first angle projection method)!
If you know one of these two projections you may create product drawings!
Auto cad is a popular software that also relates sound basic principles! A latest version of 2006 is too good for ordinary users!
When you learn drawng always relate creation to zero start origin in either a 2D or 3D! In other words set object in your mind in relation to 'zero origin' and create drawings (else it is a hell to create drawings)!
You may start with 2-dimensional drawing creation which is base that supports engineering drawing.
You can then switch over to 3D model creation concurrent to a learning of 2D drawing creation!
If you are a dedicated learner you can create a product you desire after a six months study (2 hours per day)!
with regards!
