I just came back from the car wash and I found lots of it still there. The guy told me I should go back for detailing (of course so I could pay more) but is there something I could buy out there that I could do the cleaning myself? I have the gadget to use to buff the car if need to. And the weather is already nice outside so I can do it in the parking lot.

DO NOT USE BRAKE CLEAN on paint. It will damage the paint.

Pick up Tar and Bug remover. That will safley remove the goo.

Rubbing compound. It comes in a paste form like wax and won't destroy your paint finish. It used to get paint back to it normal finish and will remove anything on the surface that doesn't belong there. About 3 buck from local autoparts store or like a walmart, really you can get it anywhere.

You can't buff gooey stuff off. All you'll do is spread it. It's hard to say without knowing what it is, but GooGone or WD40 will get most of that kind of thing off.

Googone and pure mineral spirits are safe to use on a car's finish. I wouldn't recomend any other types of solvents unless they are made specifically to use on a car's finish. Buffing should be a last resort...

I would try Goo Gone, you can find it at most hardware stores.
