We are still around. We may not be walking around with flowers... smelling of patchoulli and barefoot but we are still in the mix. You can pretty much tell a 'hippie' by their views and ideas about society. They never were much into conforming but in this date and time... it's rather a necessity. There is no 1 geographical area they live in. I do feel though that most are on the coast or living in other countries on islands. They like to be free and not contained or pigeonholed. Hippies went through many phases only to end up where they started. Bohemian style came back via the Olsen girls...after that, most hippies switched gears from tie-die to kackis ( but casual fitting).... Most are located in Vermont, Wine Countries, and San Fransisco... but an increasing treehugger movement has arisen in lew of the progressing current issues of the planet coining the terms "green" and "eco-friendly"thus dissolving the word "hippy"... . I run an eco-friendly business, but I do not consider myself a hippy. I think that word has conjured thoughts of drugs, dirtyness and gotten a bad rap overall...sorry if I may have offended any stoners out there.

There are no true hippies like back in the 60's and early 70's. But there are some pseudo hippies around. Most of my family is and I'm in the good 'ol state of Misseri (ha ha, you know, Missouri.)

You know, that's a sad question, because they are senior citizens now, and most of them have turned just the opposite of what they were in the 60's.
Soon as they inherited their parents' money they suddenly went ultra- material.
So hippies are around, they just morphed into the people you see wearing polyester shirts on the golf course, driving BMWs and living in million-dollar houses.
