I've always liked the one about the teenagers parked in the middle of nowhere that are making out when some guy with a claw for a hand tries to get at them from outside and ends up stabbing through the roof of the car and all that. I don't remember the whole legend, but it was always one of my favorites. Urban legends and things of any sort of scary nature fascinate me :)

My favorite urban legends have got to be these:

Bigfoot: Sightings of a Giant ape-like creature 7-8 feet tall roaming around the Pacific Northwest.

Mothman: Sightings of a giant winged creature living in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Story: A dog that went by the name of Bandit goes missing on the same night as 2 teen couples sight the winged creature. They drive a few miles on the high way and see a dead german shepard dog. The same type of dog Bandit was.

Jersey Devil: Sightings of a half human half horse like creature roaming the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey. It started out on a night when a woman was having her 13th child. Put a curse on it by saying she wanted it to be a devil.

Chupacabra:Also known as the "goat sucker" sucks the blood and eats the insides of animals.

Werewolf: Sightings of a dog like creature in Wisconsin. Also known as the beast of Bray road. Has been seen eating road kill. People say it is about 7 feet tall.

The legend of the Haste. It was a creature that was supposed to exist up in Pine Mountain Georgia. Of course everyone described it differently. My grandmother said it took the form of vegetation floating in a river. It was supposed to have come after her for fishing on Sunday when she was little. A friend said it looked like a bear mixed with an ape and had a gem in it's for head. It was looking through his window. He took a shot at it and it laughed at him as it ran away. Others said it was just an old story of a grizzly bear that had attacked a girl on a horse. And it was hunted down and shot. That last one doesn't sound anywhere near scary enough to be true though :)

The one in which you look into a mirror in total darkness, count to 10 and some figure from the dark side will come out of the mirror and kill you.
I'm 30 and I still turn the lights on in the bathroom before I close the door so I don't get killed!

The one where the lady is driving in a dark area in the country and she runs out of gas, and she stops at a gas station to get gas She hears over the radio that an escaped Axe Killer is on the loose. She gets out to go inside to pay for the gas ,when she gets back into her car the gas station attendant try's to tell her that he saw the killer go into her car and is hiding in her back seat. She thinks the killer is the gas station attendant & well.the story ends differently different times.

Alligators in the sewers! Gives a whole new meaning to "don't forget to wipe!"

No, wait, how about the one that keeps going around how Yahoo Answers is closing down permanently? Or the one about how you slept with the Yamster to get all your points?

I love love love the one told on Dead Poet's Society. An old lady was putting together a jigsaw puzzle. As she put it together, it looked eerily familiar. Turns out, it was a scene of her putting the puzzle together. As she put in the final piece, she saw a knife-wielding maniac at the window behind her.

Muwahahahahahaha...!
