No, you do not have to be Mexican to celebrate it!! My family is from Ecuador and we do!! I know plenty of whites who celebrate it too! It's kind of like saying only whites can celebrate Christmas. Well...not really.

You friend must not celebrate St. Patrick's Day, either, then. Any day is a good day to celebrate. Tell your friends that "Everybody is a little bit Mexican on Cinco De Mayo."

No you don't have to be Mexican to celebrate or do you have to be Irish to Celebrate St Patrick's day either. Funny both holidays fell on Saturday this year too. More time for the event.

Of course not. That's like saying you have to be Christian to celebrate all the holidays we have in this country, since majority of them are Christian based. You don' t have to be Irish to enjoy St. Patricks day and you don't have to be Hispanic to enjoy Cinco De Mayo.
So go ahead and celebrate:) If you drink, just drink responsibly and be safe!

It is a Mexican celebration, so it helps to be Mexican.
The website below will tell you about the celebration and what it is all about.

Yes, if you are not a Mexican and try to celebrate cinco de mayo, they will wrap you in a giant tortilla shell and feed you to a burro.
