Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
Month of January. That' s just one American city,
About as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
Have started this war, state the following:

A. FDR led
us into World War II.

B. Germany never attacked us; Japan did.
>From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ..
An average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea .
North Korea never attacked us.
>From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ...
An average of 18,334 per year.

D. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attackd us.

E. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
>From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
An average of 5,800 per year.

F. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
Times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
Multiple occasions.
G. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
Has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
Al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
Slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining
About how long the war is taking
It took less time to take Iraq
than it took Janet Reno
To take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
In Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find
The Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
Than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
To count the votes in Florida !!!!

Our Commander-In- Chief is doing a HARD JOB!
The Military morale is high!

The biased
media hopes we are too ignorant
To realize the facts

But Wait there's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel
Do what they do for a living. This exchange between
Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
Is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
Impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one
man's explanation of why men and women in the armed
Services do what they do for a living

IS a typical, though sad, example of what
Some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (seaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate
When you've never held a real
job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different
Occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my
Checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was
Not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the
Daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... As I went the other day...
To a veteran's hospital and look those men ...
With their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA
And go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans
Of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...
And you look those kids in the eye and tell them
That their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends
Buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
Those waving flags

You stand there, and you think about this
nation,
And you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember
During WW.II, Howard Metzenbaum
was an attorney Representing the Communist Party in the USA

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you are reading it in English
thank a Veteran.

OK mister history major (heavy sarcasm) answer me this. The Iraq war ended 4 years ago. This second war, against the insurgency, began later. How may Americans were killed by Japanese insurgents during the allied occupation of Japan after World War 2? I'll give you a hint. The answer is less than 1.

If you're going to spout history then know your facts. FDR didn't lead us into world war 2. An argument can be made that we would have gotten into it eventually but all that really matters is the way it actually happened. Japan attacked us and we declared war on Japan. Hitler then made one of his biggest mistakes by honoring a treaty he had with Japan and declaring war on the US. After he did that, the US declared war on Germany. There was no other choice.

When will you kiddies realise that war is one of the best ways to give an economic boost to your country, its been that way for centuries. The US steel plants were in the doldrums before 911 now theyre profits are up over 400%. There is not a city in the USA that cant manufacture some kind of war machinery, ordinance or war related item, and guess how much a damned missile costs? $1 million a shot. The US has some very rich arms dealers you can count on that. Wake up and smell the coffee kids before its too late.

Long and tedious read.

1) FDR was asked to intervene. 18 million lives were lost in Europe, as opposed to the 3,000 Kurds that Saddam killed, and no one asked to intervene.

2) Kennedy sent only 4,000 soldiers to Vietnam saying that he refused to get involved in a war that he wasn't guaranteed of winning. When he was assassinated, JOHNSON sent 400,000 troops. Vietnam started way before we sent any troops there, since it was a civil war conflict. France became intricately involved because it owned property there.

3) Clinton was an idiot, just like every other politician.

Politicians never look beyond how a war can profit our own pocketbook.

I was for Afghanistan. I want Osama dead. There were, are and will always be country leaders that are worse than Saddam. We had no reason to attack Iraq. It took me 3 minutes of search engines to find out that Osama and Saddam HATED each other. It took a few days to find Scott Ritters verifications that there were no WMDs.

I have seen quotes where Bush was planning to take Saddam down long before he announced war.
The Iraqi war was not justifiable. If Bush would have said: Hey! I hate Saddam and want to destroy him, I would have at least respected his honesty. He lied to get us into war.

My mother is a devout republican, and she has vowed not to vote for another republican in her life time, thanx to all of GWB's lies.

Clinton may have been Slick Willy, Bush needs to take a long dive off of a high cliff. The idea of paying for his retirement and SS to guard him until he's gone makes me want to barf.

By the way, I am a moderate, and have voted democrat and republican.

Some fair points except that FDR was forced into joining the side that was winning in WW2 only because the the Japanese attacked you and declared war on you first. It wasn't quite the heroic entrance Hollywood has since portrayed and the efforts in winning that war over the full 6 years were vastly greater from the USSR and British Empire forces.
Oh, and W. is a meathead; Clinton at least got control of Iraq and OPEC through Bush seniors first Gulf war, losing control is his son's legacy.

Wow.
The conditions for recovering veterans at the Walter Reed Medical Center are shameful.

So...you tell me what's really and truly treasonous: people like me who wouldn't (under any circumstances) support George Bush...OR...George Bush not seeing that ALL veterans receive top-quality medical care after getting maimed and injured in Iraq...OR...George Bush initiating a war against Iraq (in Iraq) when the terrorist stronghold is really in Afghanistan...OR...George Bush allowing the search for Bin Laden to fall by the wayside...OR...George Bush saying NOTHING when Haliburton moved their company HQ to UAE?

If you want to talk about treason, I can talk from now until about George Bush and the treasonous things he has done to the peoples of the United States.

Oh yeah...before I forget...think on this; if you can hear at all, then thank a Democrat for it; we maintain a regimen of hard pressure on the Bush-White House to pull out of Iraq so that the insurgents won't detonate a roadside bomb between your ears!
Roger that!

None of your statements change the fact that GW Bush illegally and with gross exaggerations and outright lies invaded the sovereign nation of Iraq, a nation that never attack the US, a nation that it has been proven, had no ties to terrorists. What is becoming clearer is that the invasion of Iraq was mainly for economic gains. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, Rice, Rove, and probably several other members of this cabinet should be in jail for the numerous violations of their oaths of office and for their raping of the US Constitution.

You have the right to get on your soapbox, but PLEASE don't mess up the facts.... the biggest mistake you made was saying that John Kennedy started the Vietnam war.... it was actually the actions of the EISENHOWER (a republican) Administration who first got up started in Vietnam---he first sent "advisors" in there to see what we could "do". They were MILITARY advisors,.... and he kept sending them in only added more and more---when Kennedy took office, we were pretty well ensconsed in Vietnam and he unfortunately DID continue it.... Johnson should have been HUNG for his antics during the Vietnam War... and Tricky Dick well he got us OUT, but not until shortly before HE resigned over a little thing called Watergate (oh yeah, another republican)--- Oh and FDR didn't get us INTO WWII----it was the Japanese who bombed a little place in Hawaii known as PEARL HARBOR....destroyed quite a few navel war ships too....NOT too sure what two countries Uncle George "LIBERATED" certainly not Iraq or anywhere else that I ever heard of and I watch the news CONSTANTLY.... I knew he went to get Osama and GOOFED so he went after Sadam who didn't go near us OR attack us---he only went after Sadam to pay him back for plotting to kill DADDY GEORGE while HE was president.. oh yeah and isn't Uncle George knee deep in Texas OIL and Iraq has TONS of oil???? and there were NO weapons of mass distruction like Uncle George SAID? Hmmmmmm You said it "took less time to take Iraq then it took to count the votes in Florida"-------when did we TAKE Iraq---as far as I know---as far as I've read and seen on TV, we are still FIGHTING over there---nothing has been "taken"....Clinton didn't NEED UN or "FRENCH" concent to go into Bosnia... oh and we did OK there DIDN'T WE????? We aren't still there years after like we are in IRAQ.... we did what was needed and we left... like we SHOULD have done in IRAQ. oh and when did Uncle George "crush a Taliban".... they are still out there, still active and don't even ACT broken........
As for the military, we have some of the worlds FINEST and bravest people out there on the front lines and no matter WHAT anyone thinks of BUSH, his politics, the war in Iraq or any of the generals who sit behind a desk playing war on computers.... Our men and women who are stationed in Iraq, or anywhere in the world are doing a GREAT job and should be supported 100% by every other American......There was no one group of Veterans who were treated more poorly AFTER they returned home then the VIET NAM VETS.... our country should be ashamed of what was done to some of those men once they got home. No matter HOW this war in Iraq ends..... we can only hope that the pride we seemed to have in our military men and women in the BEGINNING of this war is just as strong at the end of it---these were KIDS going off to fight --kids barely out of high school.... they have been and will continue to do the very best job that they can.... Ok that said..... don't go blaming all the conflicts in this country on JUST the Democrats or JUST the republicans---NOT ONE PARTY HAS EVER BEEN PERFECT OR PERFECTLY RIGHT!!!!!!!

Your question is so convoluted I hardly know where to begin. I have no beef with the military; nor have I heard anyone else who's against the war complain about them. In fact, most who oppose the war would like to keep more of them alive.
If Iraq has been 'taken', why do we have to keep sending more people there?
If you think FDR's entry into WWII was unjustified, you're a complete fool.
Some of us hoped that those in power would have learned something from Korea and Vietnam. Obviously they didn't.
If you're so gung ho about this war, why don't you enlist and go fight it?

Iraq never attacked America either. America has appointed itself as some kind of worldwide police force, which they have no right to do.

Saddam Hussein was put into power by George Bush Senior.

Throughout the entire Iraq war, 3360 American deaths have been confirmed, and a further 26,188 maimed or wounded.

Try quadrupling that for the number of Iraqi deaths.

The Democrats aren't perfect either but that doesn't make the Republicans infallible, nor absolved from all their wrongdoings.

I would have to say that America should take care of its own, don't you think?

As an example: I have a family member who just returned from Baghdad. They had a wonderful "Heroes Welcome" at the airport and returned to Fort Hood for processing. At this time, my family member asked where she was to bunk for the night, Reasonable question, yes? The answer from Personnel?

"Find a friend who will put you up."

No joke. No lie. Call Fort Hood and ask them why they have returning soldiers living in their cars, single Dads living in hotel rooms with 18 month old babies.

How is that for treason?

Edit: By the way, she returned home 2 weeks ago.
