I ain't writing yer essay for you...but here are some points to consider...

Back then, "all men" tended to imply men who owned property.

The revolution acheieved freedom from England. People still owned slaves. Slaves were men. Women couldn't vote until the 1920s. So who was free?

Some of the efforts to overcome inequality include the civil war and the women's suffrage movements.

Now search the web.Wikipedia is always a good place for starting research

According to the declaration of independence, all men means all MEN who were land owners. It excluded women, slaves, children, and freed-slaves.

Shortly after the revolution, the requirement for landownership was dropped. After the Civil War, slaves were included. Many of the abolishinests (sp) were also fighters for equal rights for women. Some started as proponents for women's rights even before they became anti-slavery. After WWI, women were included in full citizenship.

Gay people are still not equal. Imagine someone saying: African-Americans should not be able to marry each other. Not possible? But with gay people it is possible.
