Everyone on here should read the answer from "Larry 197". He's absolutely right! What is with all you people on here not seeing the big picture. The fact is that the night Paris Hilton got her DUI, her alcohol level was .08. Do any of you naive people on here realize that is just two beers. Just two beers! That is what our country is turning into. A total police state with way too many restrictive laws, and they're making more each day. The point about Paris Hilton is that she shouldn't be going to jail for any of this, and WE should never go to jail for any of it. It's ridiculous. Jail should be for murderers, rapists, kidnappers, etc. I read all the answers on here and it amazes me that the public can't see what's happening. We'd better start fighting back against all these stupid laws being made in this country, or we'll have no rights left. Start thinking, will ya??

I don't like or dislike her. I do believe the media is the cause of her infamy and I think there are plenty more stories that warrant attention rather than wasting space on her.

That said, I feel that anyone else under the same circumstances would have received the same sentence so good on the judge for his decision

Edit: I have to respond to cynthia and larry 157. She didn't go to jail because of the DUI. She went to jail because her license was suspended yet she continued to drive and was caught twice. She also did not enroll in the drug and alcohol interdiction program which she was suppose to do. She IGNORED the rulings of the court. You can't continue to disobey the law and not expect to be punished. If people were constantly let off the hook for doing the little things what makes you think that these little things won't escalate? As for the .08 BAC, the fact of the matter is she was legally drunk. The laws were put in place to deter people from driving while drunk.

Man - you're an a**h***!!!
It's people like you who are turning this country into a police state! Throwing her in jail is as redicolus as the other night when this girl got arrested for trying to get to her father who was having a heart attack so she drove off afterexplaining the situatiuon to the cop. That a**h*** cop should have had some sympathy and escorted her to her father!!! You and the rest of you who are happy abou the Paris Hilton deal should all move to North Korea where civil rights abuse is in abundance; that's where you belong!!!
We are becoming so redicolus: Just a few days ago a man was arrested in Florida for discarding a cigarette (he stomped on it to extinguesh it) but was charged with "that he COULD HAVE started a fire"!!!!! We're living in a POLICE STATE!!!!! NON MORE FREEDOM AND CIVIL RIGHTS IN AMERICA!!!!!! Most citizens are so naive!!!!!

I concur....! I know we do not know her personally but her celeb persona -I cannot stand. Celebrities should be doing so much more with their status. If you're in the public light then you have to realize you're a role model whether you like it or not- people will look up to you and imitate what you do. I know that hey are only human too but they should still all try to be more positive role models and not be so superficial! I'm glad the judge didn't let her slide by.

I think you're an idiot. And, you sound like you're jealous of her. I also think it's a total waste of tax payers money to "criminalise" citizens for minor things and throwing them in jail. Ooohhhh we're soooooo much safer with violent criminals on the streets and the likes of Paris Hilton, Martha Stewart, et al. in jail!!!!!! Seriously: GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!! To all you "envious haters" out there - just remember that some day you may find yourselves in an awkward situation with everyone laughing AT you because what goes around comes around!!!!

I agree. It's like the old saying goes: if you can't do the time you shouldn't do the crime. Hopefully she's put in a real jail not one of those posh up scale places Martha Stewart was placed in.
