Yeah I agree, 3 months is too long to have someone sitting on your roster, especially a pitcher. If you have other players on the DL, you need to drop him to make room for an extra player. Normally when it is a shoulder injury the pitcher does not return to full strenght right away, and he probably won't be 100% before the end of the season. Drop him and get Tim Lincecum if he's not already taken. His stock is soaring and people are adding him like crazy.
If that doesn't work you need to trade for a top tier quality pitcher unless you are already loaded with pitching.
So I would say try to trade him, if that doesn't work drop him, add another pitcher, and then possibly trade for ANOTHER pitcher.

I would trade him if anybody wanted him. 3 months is a long time. He would only be back for August and September. When he does come back, he will probably only be pitching 5 or 6 innings for a month because of a certain pitch count. Tell people he is available for a trade. If no one wants him, drop him. Most leagues do have a roster limit so you wouldn't want to hold a spot for that long.

Keep and possibly trade one of the other pitchers with a utility man and pick up another quality starter.

I dropped him. Shoulder surgery is fickle and he may not return at all. Check for an injured reserve spot on your lineup and put him there if you can. There are better young pitchers you can probably take a flier on for his spot.

till they're going to get a positive shot QB or RB for him, they prefer to keep him. The "different" AP isn't even on the threshold of a starter and Benson is particularly a lot the position this offense seems to steer them.

I think he won't be that effective when he gets back I would drop him if there is a better pick up option out there

he'll be back before both Pedro & Clemens are playing again, and people are sitting on those pitchers rather than leaving them on waivers. I say just hold onto him if it's at all possible in your team situation.
