I was wondering when someone would start to use Gliese 581c in the religious context. Perhaps the christian church should now start rewriting the bible so as to depict Gliese 581c as one of god's other "creations"? Or perhaps that if any extraterrestrials are found in the next 10 years, that they should be worshipped and thought of as the Human species' god and creators?

It is just a planet that - for now - scientists "think" it is very much like Earth. Until there are actually satellites and rovers exploring the surface, there isn't any telling how right or wrong the scientists could be.
Since there will not likely be any satellites orbiting Gliese 581c (even with technological advancements), no one on Earth will even be sure what the planet is like for at least 1,000 more years to paint an accurate description.

Take over 17 million years to what? That planet is probably of similar age to our own, or perhaps 4 to 5 billion years old.

No, not at all. Heaven is not reachable from life on Earth, you have to be dead to get there. I'm sure someday they will find a way to get to that planet, so, no, i'm sure it's not heaven.

umm no I doubt its Heaven. I would say its just another planet with people or other kinds of beings just like ours. It just happenes to be that we wont get to see it this lifetime, but hey theres always the next one, or the next one. I guess thats up to you.

it would seem nice to think so, but i highly doubt that this planet is heaven. Its just another planet that we will never get to step foot on.
