It's about my brother. He's having problems when he sleeps. Lately i've been hearing him every night. For about 2 weeks. It started off with him just talking in his sleep, like having a conversation with someone. Then it started to shouting. I'd hear him, go into his room and see him sitting up on his bed with his hands up, shouting. Anyway, the night before yesterday, i was in my room studying, about 4 o'clock and i heard him screaming.. So i went in his room and i shock him, and said whats wrong? He said he had a bad dream. And i asked what it was about.. he said he was lying in his bed and these human/animal type of people were jumping on him eating his flesh, until his bones broke. Then last night it was about 2 o'clock and i heard someone running. So i opened my door and saw him running up and down the corridor, kind of stamping, like walking fast.. then he just walked into my dads room and started crying "Dad, dad, dad."
Theres more to come so i guess i'll add more in a sec.

So, em.. yeah, he called on my Dad, and he woke up, turned the light on and asked him what was wrong.. My brother was nearly crying, really nervous and his heart was beating so hard and loud that we could hear it when he spoke. He just said "Look at his face...." Something about my other brothers face, he's 5 and sleeps beside my dad. He started touching his face making sure it was ok.. Then my dad slapped my brother, I guess he must of thought he was sleep walking or something.. He just kept on crying, so he slapped him again.. Then he walked into his own room sat on his bed and started crying.. So me and my dad were asking him what was wrong, he told us he had a bad dream.
I mean; yeah it's pretty freaky, not saying hes a psycho or anything.. but i'm just wondering whats making him like this, at first i thought it was from watching too many scary movies, but he's 14 nearly 15.. they can't scare him that easily, can they?

By the way, i wrote "My brothers a freak" so maybe people would click on my question.. he kind of is though.. i mean.. it sounds like someones killing him when he sleeps..
Anyway, I'm not quite sure what to put this under, but anyone got any ideas or thoughts? Be sure to share them.. Thanks.
P.s. No therapists.or psychiatrists, doubt that would work anyway, what would we pay them with anyway? Buttons?

Hey There!!!!You don't have to worry this is not a problem that it can't be solved!!!!!!!Just don't listen to that guy and don't give him any medicine that he wrote!!!!
What you just said it looks like your brother have is pavor nocturnus or night terror, but it doesn't have to be because you said that your brother told you he had a bad dream. People who suffer from night terror have inability to explain what happened and they don't really remember what did they dreamed. So this is maybe misdiagnosed and you will need help from psychologist. I don't want to sound to much clever so this is the link where you can find more about pavor nocturnus!!!!

Just don't be worry everything will be just fine!!

Do. Not. Underestimate the help a therapist or psychiatrist can give your brother. Websites and books about night terrors are nice, but seriously. Your brother needs hands on help by someone who KNOWS what their doing. Not heresay and 'maybes' from a bunch of strangers online. I'd get one right away, and they might be expensive but if this has been happening over and over it might be worth the cash to prevent it now -nip it in the bud-, rather then make him pay the money in the future for help. Or worse could happen.
Is it really worth not getting the help?

As I said in the other incarnation of this question, since he's suffering from some form of psychological disorder, he needs the help of people with expertise in psychological disorders.
If his heart were bad (I mean something wrong with his physical heart), would you say "no medical doctors"?
Getting evaluation and treatment would work better than ignoring the problem, or doing something completely irrelevant. (I mean what do you think, brewing him a nice, hot cup of tea will help?)
You can find services that would negotiate fees based on what you can pay.
If you don't really want to help him, then don't ask the question.
If you do, then get him to people who can help.
Oh, and another possibility occurred to me after answering your last; could be he's had some nasty drugs that are backing up on him.

night terrors and they are caused from the mind not being totally, for lack of a better term, 'shut down' when your body goes from one phase of sleep to the next. when this happens he dream you were having becomes so real to you that some people freak out. there may be something that is bothering him to the point that he is thinking about it before falling asleep and it stays on his mind while sleeping and that n turn is causing the terrors. tell him to try meditating before he falls asleep or at least clearing his mind. if this does not work then tell him to think about good things. other than that it will resolve its self over time. good luck

Check your community clinics. More important is if you can't afford it than check with your State. Usually the Dept. of Human Services; there are Medical Benefits for children. This would fall in that category. I'll check back and see if you were able to find anything. If I knew what State, I could do some checking.

Its called "Night Terrors" and they are more COMMON than you think. Have your brother go to a "Sleep Clinic." Call your local Hospital or look in the Phone Book or have your Doctor refer him to one. They will have him stay overnite and monitor him to see what could be causing them. GOOD LUCK!

hi angel, i guess that there is something annoying your brother and makes him nervous, in my opinion the best way to solve the problem is to know the cause, so try to sit with your brother and know what annoys him and doesnt make him sleep
take care
