Hello J Rock. Lok is apart of my pantheon by the way.
Loki is the god of fire and change, he keeps things moving. Loki actually does look like his parents probably, but Loki really hasn't been drawn too much by the ancient people, neither were his parents..
Odin is a half-giant himself. Giant doens't necessarily mean "talk person" but somehow the word "giant" later became just that in Europe...
Loki also has the ability to change his shape. So he can look like anything, but his true form is probably like his parents..

I think it is one of these :
1. He had a frost giant father and an asgardian mother.
2. Odin put a spell to make Loki look like an asgardian.

Why, because he's a god. The gods of a religion don't have to deal with minor obstacles like that.
And honestly, how do you expect the Norse to know that a god should like like his parents? They didn't understand genetics... but otherwise, I can't say why, but maybe a frost giant doesn't look THAT different, and Loki is just short.

Loki is the Norse god of mischief and chaos. Mythology is filled with things that don't make sense and we logically discard as story. Zeus making love with a mortal to make Hercules, Mary having the son of god, Loki being born of frost giants, all just things of story and myth.

in many myths, the children did not look like the parents - and sometimes there were no parents (like the omnipresent all father the uncreated, or even Ymir, who was ...thought.. into being)
loki and a giant had three children
- hel, supposedly an ugly girl
- fenrir, a wolf that grew to immense proportions
- jormungand, a serpent (snake-like dragon) that circled the earth and bit it's tail
loki's children didn't look like him either, because physical looks are not as important as what the god stands for, not as important as what the god means

I think Thor found out right at the end of Thor because then Thor didn't act like he was in the beginning and it was like he didn't want Loki to fee weak or something like that.

Do you have photographs of Loki's parents? If you don't, then how do you know he does not look like them?
